Nathalie Dirmann Satter passed away peacefully on August 6, 2018 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Gerard “Jerry” G. Satter, Sr. Loving mother of Gerard “Jay” G. Satter, Jr. (Gwenn), Leslie S. Kelt (Stephen), and Richard F. Satter, Sr. (Lisa). Grandmother to Christopher G. Satter (Katie), Matthew N. Satter (Sarah), Jordan S. Kelt, Richard F. Satter, Jr., Meghan E. Satter and step-grandmother to Kolby Hodge (Paul) and Mason Gonzales. Adoring greatgrandmother to Claire Satter and step great-grandmother to Emmie Rose, Porter, and Tucker Hodge and Benson Gonzales. Preceded in death by her parents Louis J. and Jeanne A. Dirmann. Loving sister to Raymond Dirmann and preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Dirmann, Louis Dirmann, Frances Dirmann, Paul Dirmann, Leonie (Lonnie) Knight and Jeanne Russo. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James moved to Saint Bernard within the last four years to be closer to family. His hobbies included anything Chevy trucks and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He also loved to cook. Loving husband to his wife Donna Mistretta Pearson for the past 20 years. Spouse of the late Linda Miller. Devoted step father to Nathan Pilet (Cassie), April Pilet, Emilee Mercadel (Frank), Kelly Pilet and Shawna Miller Martin. Brother of Betty Beard, the late Emmett “Buddy” Pearson, the late Ellen “Ann” Pearson, and the late Paul Pearson. Darla Kay Duvall Miller passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at the age of 61. Beloved mother of Lynsey Huval. Daughter of the late Fred Duvall and Bonna Katzenbach Duvall. Sister of Linda Griffith, Faye Root (Thomas) and the late Gayle Ruiz. Proud grandmother of Savannah, Zoe and Nevaeh Huval. Also survived and fondly remembered by her dear friend Carol Saltalmachia (Buddy), her niece Starla Callais (Warren), many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. Darla was born on October 20, 1956 in New Orleans, LA. She was a current resident of Folsom, LA. She will be forever remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends. Michael Wallace Engelhardt passed away on July 27, 2018 at the age of 36. He was the proud and beloved father of Landin Michael Engelhardt and Kilynn Alexis Engelhardt. Son of the late Wallace John Engelhardt and Eileen Selkin Engelhardt. Brother of Letitia Baillio (Hugh), Janice Gill and the late Theresa Alleva and John Engelhardt II. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Michael was born in Metairie, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish where he enjoyed a career in Air Conditioning repair. Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life, hunting and fishing with friends and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends, his caring and loving spirit, the way he made us laugh, and his deep love and affection for his children. He was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Oris Raymond Creighton

Oris Raymond Creighton, a native New Orleanian and resident of Folsom, LA, passed away peacefully at his home on July 31, 2018, due to Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 82. Oris was born in New Orleans to the late Jane Graffeo Creighton and Earl (Tom) Creighton. Loving and devoted husband of Bobbie Jean Veazey Creighton for 62 years. Loving father of Jody C. Martin (Rick), Dr. Amery J. Creighton (R.D. Allen) and Oris David Creighton (Laura). Devoted grandfather of Graham Weddington, Brad Weddington, Nicole W. Kerner, Sean Gammoon, and David James Creighton and his ten great grandchildren. Brother of Robert A. Creighton (Ann), Linda C. Palazzo (Joe), Jane C. Brady (Tom) and the late Thomas Creighton. He attended St. Peter & Paul Catholic School and Holy Cross High School. During his time at Holy Cross, Oris developed many friendships that endured throughout his life and was a member of the Tiger Band having served as captain in 1953-54. Until his death Oris remained a loyal Holy Cross alumnus. In 1951 his family moved to St. Bernard Parish, where he lived for many years and served as President of the Library Board. In the 1960’s, Oris and his family relocated to St. Tammany Parish where he remained until his death. After many years in the family construction/heavy equipment business, Mr. Creighton changed course and received his B.A. Degree in English History from the University of New Orleans and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola School of Law. Upon completion at Loyola, he practiced construction law mostly in St. Tammany Parish. As a resident of St. Tammany Parish, Oris and his wife were active in many civic and social organizations and enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home in Folsom. Oris will be truly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and siblings and all who knew and loved him. He will be especially remembered for his kindness, sentimentality, keen sense of humor and a memory in which no detail was ever forgotten and the pride of having served his country as a United States Marine. A Mass of Christian Burial and Interment took place on Friday, August 3, 2018, at St. Joseph Abbey, 75356 River Road, Covington, LA 70435, following a mass and visitation. Imelda Rosemary Larsen Brubaker passed away peacefully on Friday, August 3, 2018 at age 89. She was born on March 28, 1929 in New Orleans, LA, and lived most of her life in Chalmette, LA. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years, John Preston Brubaker Sr., her father, Thomas F. Larsen, her mother, Lillian Klein Larsen, her two sisters, Mildred Larsen Decle and Lillian Larsen Hebert, as well as her sons, Stephen and Patrick Brubaker and her granddaughter, Tammi Brubaker. She is survived by her children, John Jr. (Sylvia), David (Vicki), Michael, Judith (Ray Leroux), and Cynthia (Frank/Jay Kraus), as well as 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She graduated class valedictorian from St. Joseph Academy in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a lifelong homemaker, a loving wife and a loving mother. She also loved the sport of bowling and was an active league bowler every week until the age of 84. Raymond was born in New Orleans and was a resident of Chalmette, LA, moving to Picayune, MS, after Hurricane Katrina. He worked at BellSouth for 35 years. He was a most loving husband and father, devoted man of God, and tirelessly served his community. He was proudly Ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church, was a respected Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Rummel Council 5747, and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Ethel Mae “Tookie” Serpas Rano passed away on August 4, 2018 at the age of 93. She was the devoted wife of Domingo Rano for 76 years. Loving mother of Jeanette Rano Gray and Bernadine Rano Cappo (Andrew, Jr.). Grandmother of Wayne Gray, Sr. (Michelle), Donna Calato (Michael), Andrew Cappo, III and the late Christopher Gray. Greatgrandmother of Wayne Gray, Jr., Brandi Russell (Farrest), Austin Gray, Darius Tortorich (Paige), Lindsey Tortorich and Hunter Tortorich. Greatgreatgrandmother of Lucas Tortorich and Tanner Caples. She was the Godmother of Malcolm Assevado, Terry “Corkey” Robin, Mark Robin and Mary Ann Winn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecile Ritter Serpas and Malcolm Serpas, and by her sisters, Irene Hasik, Patricia Assevado and Marietta Serpas. Tookie was a lively lady who will be fondly remembered for her love of dancing, weekly Po-ke-no games, and frequent visits to the casino. She loved her family and will be deeply missed by us all. On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, Lynda Autin Prattini was called to be with our Lord at the age of 72. She was surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She was born on May 19, 1946 to the late Albert and Ruth Autin. Hannah Angelle Landwehr was called Home suddenly by her Heavenly Father on August 3, 2018 at the very young age of 16. She walked hand in hand with her mother, Brandi McGough Landwehr through Heavens Gates. She was originally from St. Bernard, LA and a current resident of Madisonville, LA. She would have begun her junior year of high school this week. Hannah was a vibrant, loving and caring soul with an electric personality. Whenever Hannah would walk into a room, she would make her presence known. For her very short life on this earth, her years were filled with wonderful memories with her family and friends. She was a member of World Prayer Tabernacle Church and their youth group. Brandi Michelle McGough Landwehr was carried by angels in harmony with her 16 year-old daughter Hannah Angelle Landwehr to heaven on August 3, 2018 at the age of 43. Their unexpected tragedy bares understanding that life is short and we must make the best of our time on earth. Brandi came to us as a bundle of joy on March 30, 1975, in West Monroe, LA. She continued to spread that joy as she touched our lives, throughout her life. Brandi graduated from Chalmette High School, where she was an Owls’ cheerleader. She attended Southeastern Louisiana University and received a degree in Accounting. She worked as a property accountant managing oil and gas producing properties. Brandi was formerly married to William Landwehr, with whom she gave birth to two beautiful daughters, Hannah and Hailey. Brandi loved her girls and devoted her life to them. She was the most loving and kind person to everyone she met. She kept in touch with friends as far back as elementary school. Brandi had a bigger heart than anyone can imagine. She loved children and was especially devoted to helping sick or impaired children by seeking donations for their cause. Brandi was the beloved daughter of Karen Rodriguez Brown and the late Monte Wayne McGough and stepdaughter of Raymond John Brown. She was the mother of the late Hannah Angelle Landwehr and Hailey Madison Landwehr. Brandi was the sister of Brent McGough, stepsister of Richard Brown, sister-inlaw of Gelinda McGough, Rhonda Brown, Cynthia Landwehr and Billy Barnes. She was the granddaughter of Holden and Gladys Rodriguez. Brandi was the aunt of Trevor McGough, Richard II, Rian & Raechel Brown, Peyton & Megan Callahan, Christopher, Victoria & Rebecca Brown, Ethan Ebejer, Melissa Barnes, and great aunt of Emma Winding. She was the niece of Ronnie and Lee Rodriguez, Don & Susan Rodriguez, Danny & Kenneth McGough, Sandra & Terry Nugent, Robert & Cindy Brown, Karen & Johnny Navarro, and Rose Merwin. Brandi had many, many cousins. Preceded in death by grandparents Monte Gray and Jesse Lee McGough, Uncles Bobbie McGough and Allen Merwin and her sister-in-law Teresa Barnes. Brandi was the glue that held our families together. She was loved by everyone and will be forever missed. James Jude Castay, Sr., peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 10, 2018, in Covington, LA, while surrounded by his loving family at the age of 83. A native of New Orleans, James was longtime resident of Chalmette until Katrina; He resided in Mandeville, LA, for the last 9 years. James is survived by his loving children, Pamela C. Young (John) and James J. Castay, Jr. (Marybeth). He was adored and cherished by his grandchildren: Lisa Young Gonlag (Buddy), Lindsey Castay Garner (Caleb) and James M. Castay (Logan). Paw Paw “Jimmy” was loved and adored by his great granddaughters: Madalyn Gonlag, Malaina Gonlag and Shiloh Garner. He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. James was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Steger Castay, and his son, Timothy A. Castay. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Odile (Pearl) J. Castay and Philip L. Castay, and his siblings, Elvina Martin, Althea Keyes, Doris Prattini, Leon Castay and Sheldon Castay. James was an honorably discharged Veteran of the U. S. Army and a retired employee of Dixie Brewery. Relatives and friends are attended a visitation and Prayer Service at Serenity Funeral Home, 20419 Highway 36, Covington, LA, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Interment followed at Lake Lawn Mausoleum, 5454 Ponchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA. As a great-grandfather, he leaves Zachary Vise, Chace Alesich, Niko Maumus, Domenic Maumus, Savannah Keroack, Elijah Keroack, Wil Cook and Emily Cook. Stepgrandfather and step great-grandfather to Nikki Palmisano, Robin Shuchman (Mitch), Brent Fradella (Dana), Ava and Audry Fradella, Katherine Fradella, Chase and Cole Phelps. Preceded in death by his parents, John Alesich and Nellie Greenberg Alesich of Croatia, John was their only child and grew up in the French Quarter, making his home in the Faubourg Marigny for his entire life on North Rampart Street. He attended St. Louis Cathedral Church where he served as an altar boy, moving on to St. Aloysius High School. While there, he was drafted into World War II to serve his country proudly. Upon his return after the war, he joined the New Orleans Police Department to serve his city proudly for 50 years. He began the force as a beat cop, moving on to “Three-Wheelers,” Harley Motorcycle Division, Traffic Division, 1st and 8th Districts, and retired from his beloved French Quarter in 2000. He received numerous commendations from our city mayors, state governors; Presidents Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr., and John F. Kennedy, to name a few. One of his most honorable assignments was to protect and escort Pope John Paul II, here, in New Orleans. He had a perpetual love for the Big Easy! When John was not working, he was coaching baseball – the passion of his life. You could find him on the fields of St. Roch Playground and Kenilworth Playground, leading his teams to Babe Ruth Bambino victories. He was known for his “At A Boy!” and “At A Babe” sayings to hundreds of players that were on his teams throughout his 35 years as a NORD coach. When not on those fields, he would be in front of his tv cheering on his New York Yankees. John also served as an usher to his devoted Blessed Seelos Church. John received a Bachelor’s Accounting Degree from Soule Business College, Bachelor’s Degree in Bookkeeping from Southwestern Business College, Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Loyola University. He was a member of the Loyola University Cross Key Fraternity, as well as the Fraternal Order of Police and American Legion. We are pleased that our Mom finally gave permission for our Dad to join her. May they both now forever watch over us, hand-in-hand. We will love them always to the heavens and earth, forever in our hearts! A special thank you to Fr. Juan Peter Montelongo was carried away by Angels to his final resting place in heaven to be with God, our Father, on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at the age of 68. He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel Montelongo and Martha Hayes Montelongo as well as his brothers, Robert, Raymond and Frankie; and sisters, Bernice and Norma. Juan was the loving father of Glynn Montelongo (Nikki), Jen Montelongo and Alesha M. Schifano (Chip), proud Grandfather of Tyler and Britten Cheramie, Devyn, Brennan and Liam Montelongo and Kelsey, Sydneigh and Leighton Schifano. Proud Great Grandfather of Braxton and Holland Cheramie and Vayda Kinkella. He is also survived by his brothers Manuel Montelongo Jr. (Yetta), Emanuel Montelongo (Sally), Edward Montelongo (Myra), Richard Montelongo (Margie) and sisters Irene April and Jacinta (Tinta) Alfonso (Stanley). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Juan was raised on Delacroix Island and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish most of his life. In his earlier years he discovered his love for thoroughbred horse racing and became a jockey. He later worked as a crane operator at Electro Coal Terminal in Plaquemines Parish. After many years he returned to his passion of caring and breeding horses. Juan truly lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. He was passionate about carpentry and building/riding Harley Davidson’s. He also enjoyed playing pool, visiting the French Quarter, listening to Blues Bands and attending the New Orleans Jazz Fest. He loved seafood and had a special love for Rocky & Carlo’s Restaurant, as it was always his first stop when coming home to the Parish. Juan will be greatly missed by so many who loved him including his buddy Rottweiler “Smoky”. Immediate family visitation will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at St Bernard Catholic Church located at 2805 Bayou Rd. St Bernard, LA 70085. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Memorial Mass from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial to follow from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Family and friends are also invited to attend Juan’s Celebration of Life immediately following at The Abbey Rose, located at 2900 Oak Ridge Blvd., Violet, LA 70092. Edgar James “Matt” Mathews, III, on Sunday August 12, 2018 passed away at his home in Mandeville, LA after his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 61. He was the beloved husband of Karen Hewitt Mathews and loving father of Edgar James Mathews, IV and Sarah Marie Mathews. Born February 7, 1957 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Gerry Roy Mathews and the late Edgar James Mathews, Jr., he was a life-long resident of Arabi and Chalmette, Louisiana. Edgar was a project manager for Royal Engineers and Consultants LLC. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School, class of 1975. He will be deeply missed by his four siblings: Amy Mathews Zimmer (Rick), Edwin Roy Mathews (Pamela), Beth Mathews Golden (Bill) and Jo Mathews Gautreaux (Michael); in-laws James Hewitt, Sr., James Hewitt, Jr. (Pattye). and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday August 25, 2018 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St. in Mandeville, LA. Carolyn Kettelberger LeBlanc passed away on August 18, 2018 at the age of 69. She was the loving wife of Jules LeBlanc, Jr. Devoted mother of Michele Migliore (Roy), and Michael LeBlanc. Grandmother of Roy, Jr., Charles and Sarah. She was also the sister of Cheryl Nastasi (Victor). She was the aunt of Jonathan (Lisa) and Jason (Andrea). She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Ibos Kettelberger and Charles Michael Kettelberger, Jr. Carolyn was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy. After graduating she worked at Tenneco Oil, Kansas Packing and eventually, Chalmette Refi ning. She was a parishioner of St. Mark Catholic Church, pre-Katrina, and a current parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, in Violet. She was a past member of the Stardusters and the Hinton Causey VFW 7194 Post, where she participated in the Ladies Auxiliary and the Junior Girls, and was a former member of the Krewe of Rhea. Carolyn was deeply loved 00by her family and friends, and will be missed by all who knew her. An evening visitation was held on Th ursday, August 23, 2018 at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, in Chalmette. On Friday, August 24, 2018 a visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a mass in her honor at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. John Michael Hemstreet, a Supervisory Auditor, passed away after a long struggle with cancer in Chalmette, LA, on Sunday, August 19, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 67. He was born June 4, 1951 to Marcella Bailey Hemstreet and the late Frank Silas Hemstreet, Jr., in New Orleans, LA. He is survived by his beloved wife Angelica of 42 years; his four children, Mikey, Paul, Alisha, and Alison; his daughters-in-law, Amanda and Candace; his son-in-law, Brian; and his four grandchildren, Amelie, Alydia, Brady, and Eben. John will forever be remembered for his infectious laugh, his can-do attitude, and his kind heart.
