Beverly M. Huet passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of Wilfred L. Huet. Loving mother of Deborah Hogh Bettens. Joyce Mary Shannon Keim
Joyce Keim passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at The Haven in Baton Rouge, at the age of 85. She was a native of New Orleans and long-time resident of Chalmette, LA. Joyce truly embodied the entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, she sold home products and cosmetics. Later, she turned a large room in her home into a wedding venue, and enlisted her family to become caterers and bartenders. But, in 1972, she found the love of her entrepreneurial life: the wholesale seafood business. Joyce’s Seafood provided shrimp, crawfish, fish and crab to many of the finest restaurants in New Orleans, like T. Pittari’s, Pascal Manale, the Royal Sonesta, Masson’s, The Versailles, Tony Angelo’s, Impastato’s, and of course, Rocky and Carlo’s. Joyce also befriended many of the top chefs of the time, including Gerard Crozier, Augie Lopez, Gunter Preuss, Robert Finley, Bozo Vodacovich, and Willie Coln. She will be greatly missed by her family, and all of those whom she touched. The visitation for Joyce and her sister, Jean Shannon Augustin Dudenhefer, who also passed away during the same week, was held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Interment took place immediately afterward at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, 701 W. Virtue Street, Chalmette, LA. Joyce is survived by her two sons, Elwood “Woody” H. Faith Williams Landwehr, a Wife, Mother and lover of her God; went to sleep in the Lord’s arms on March, 23, 2019, peacefully surrounded by her family, at the age of 80. Mrs. Landwehr was an Associate of the Dominican Sisters of Peace for 23 years, as well as a former parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Violet, Louisiana from 1963 to August 29, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Peter Elizee Williams and the late Laura Bordelon Williams. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Ronald Luis Landwehr; son Mark Luis Landwehr (Donna); two daughters, Michelle Marie Sumner (Dayle) and Julie Ann G’sell (David); Faith’s six treasured grandchildren, Thomas Luis David Sumner (Nathalie), Craig Joseph Sumner (Lauren), Kevin Lucas Sumner, David Henry G’sell Jr. (Jordyn), Cameron Luis G’sell, and Julie Angeline G’sell; as well as her two loved brothers, Keith Peter Williams (Eva), and Rodney John Williams (Janice). John Roy Martinez, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the age of 56. He was the beloved husband of 19 years to Tracy Mayeux Martinez. Antoinette “Toni” Pellittieri passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2019, at East Jefferson Hospital, surrounded by her family at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Natale “Nat” Pellittieri, her parents, Reuben and Rita Pizzalato Leiva; and her aunt, Mary LoPiparo. Antoinette was the loving mother of Nathalie P. Frederick (Dan), Michael Pellittieri (Donna) and Gregory Pellittieri (Sandy). Cherished grandmother of Brandon Frederick, and Christopher, Nicholas, Todd, Jennifer and Dario Pellittieri. She was the great-grandmother of Sadie and Allie Belle Pellittieri, and Tanner Falgout. Antoinette was the dear cousin and godmother of Ronnie LoPiparo and the late Lucien Beaudette. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, her lifelong, childhood friend, Lillian Waechter, and her godchildren, Chad Messa and Dwight Pousson. Antoinette will be grealty missed by her many special, longtime friends. She was born on September 19, 1929, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was a long-time resident of Chalmette before relocating to Kenner after Hurricane Katrina. Antoinette was an incredible cook. She loved preparing her St. Joseph Day meal and baking her Italian cookies to share with her many friends. Rita Scioneaux peacefully entered heaven on March 14, 2019 at 10:45am at Chateau du Notre Dame, New Orleans at the age of 94. Daughter of the late Gracie Ruiz Scioneaux and the late Edward J. Scioneaux – she was born in St. James, LA. She was a resident of Chalmette and Alexandria, La. Her sisters were the late Eloise S. Lacour (Burnett) and the late Marie Louise Scioneaux. She was the aunt of Sr. Ann Lacour, MSC, James E. Lacour (Michael) and Paul J. Lacour (Tish). She is also survived by her grandnephew, Marcel P. Lacour (Vanessa) and grandniece, Dr. MiMi L. Williams (Daniel). She was filled with joy as Abby Lacour, Malachi Paul Lacour and Lettie Eloise Williams were welcomed into the family. Col. Edward Peter Benezech, Jr., born January 17, 1920, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2019, at the age of 99. Beloved husband of the late Katherine Boudreau. Loving father of Edward P. Benezech, III (Sheryl), Katherine B. Ferret (the late James), the late Susan B. Morgan, and the late Janet B. Stipe (Paul). Proud grandfather of Sean B. Cavalier (Kurt), Lance Benezech, Sr. (Sandra), Jeffery Stipe (Andrea), Christopher Stipe (Tiffany), Ian Morgan (Paula) and Seth Morgan (Ashley). Great-grandfather of Candice B. Pittman (Kyle), Lance, Jr. and Nicolas Benezech, Lane, Mason and Peyton Cavalier, Andrew Bellas, Sophia, Olivia, Carson and Ryane Stipe, and Neva, Amelia and Oliver Morgan. Brother of Helen Guillot. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Edward P. Benezech, Sr. and Violet J. Herkender, and his brother, Shelby W. Benezech. Edward was born in New Orleans, and was a life-long resident of Arabi, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Warren Easton High School, Class of 1938. He served in WWII as a Captain with 938th FA BN, and was present at the Anzio Beach Invasion, in Italy. He earned many medals during his time in service, including The Bronze Star and The Croix De Guerre. An active member of the Washington Artillery Veterans Association, he retired from the military as a Colonel. After his military career, he was employed by the State of Louisiana Adjutant General’s Office, and retired in 1985. Edward will forever be remembered for his sweet nature, and his dedication to his family and country. He loved telling jokes and war stories, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dale Joseph Brower, Sr., also known as “Joe” and “Pops;” passed away suddenly at his home on March 2, 2019 at the age of 79. Born March 29, 1939 in Freewater, OR, to the late Ernestine M. Reeves Brower and Dave Philip Brower. Predeceased by his loving wife Mil Lou Kask Brower. Dale was a resident of St. Bernard for 50 plus years. Survived by his children; Donna Campo (Curtis), Dale J Brower, Jr, Dena Hutchinson (Jimmie), Desa Lindley, eight grandchildren; Curtis D Campo III (Michelle), Kyle Campo (Lindsay), Jayne Romelfanger (Tim), Priscilla Hunt (Brandon), Jimmie Hutchinson, Tiffany Riley (deceased), Katelyn Lindley, Stephanie Lindley, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force E-4 after serving eight years. Dale retired from Exxon as a maintenance foreman during which time he worked in Africa and Malaysia. Dale loved travel with his most recent trips to England, Scotland and Ireland. Dale also enjoyed spending time with his family and will be sadly missed. A Celebration of Life was held March 30, 2019.

Ana Maria Anita Lafont passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of Col. Earl H. Lafont of New Orleans, LA. Mother of Linda Lafont, Earline Fletes, Brenda Perdomo, Annalisa Lafont and the late Anna Lorena (Lori) Schnuelle. Daughter of the late Alberto Rivas and Dominga Bolaños Rivas of Nicaragua. Active member of the Nicaraguan society in the New Orleans area, helping raise money and supplies for poor people in Central America. Loved to cook Nicaraguan and Cajun cuisines and always had a place at her table for friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed for her love and generosity of heart. Juanita Louise Cannon McCune passed away on Tuesday March 26, 2019 in New Orleans, LA, at the age of 96. Juanita was born November 2, 1922 in Mississippi to the late Juanita St. Amant Cannon and Lucien Hall Cannon. She was the wife of the late James S. McCune. Juanita is survived and beloved by her four daughters, Sharon Keating (Wayne), Dr. Kathleen McCune (Collin Babcock), Jamie McCune, and Susan Sykes (Andy); her grandchildren, Charlyn Keating Chisholm, Dr. Christi Keating Sumich; Sean, Colin, Ryan and Patrick McKenzie; Will, Adam and Ben Sykes; and her 8 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers, George and William Cannon. Juanita worked hard for much of her life starting with a job in the accounting department of Touro Infirmary in New Orleans in the 1940’s. She moved back to her beloved Mississippi Gulf Coast after her retirement from the St. Bernard Parish School System as a cafeteria manager. In her retirement she did volunteer work for the Mississippi tourism industry and the local senior citizen center. Juanita was always happiest near the water. She was an excellent diver and swimmer, and loved to go crabbing. Services and inurnment will take place in the Biloxi Mississippi National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2019. Raymond Charles “Cowboy Ray” Oelking passed away on November 16, 2018 in Kiln MS.›He is preceded in death by his parents Amos J. Oelking, Sr. and Rita Regan Oelking, and brothers Amos J. Oelking Jr., John Charles Melton and Edgar Charles Melton. Ray is survived by his wife of 22 years Doris H. Oelking; children Raymond J. Oelking Sr. (Jamie), Timothy Adley, Rosetta Gomez Leblanc, and Philip Gomez; grandchildren Raymond J. Oelking Jr, Kevin Cuccia Jr, Nicholas Cuccia and Camryn Adley; sisters Audreta Oelking Richardson, Rebecca Oelking Goostrey, and Elizabeth Melton Dow; and brothers William Charles Melton, Landon Charles Melton and Alan Charles Melton. Ray served in the U.S. Air Force and was a longtime resident of St Bernard Parish. He worked for 30 years at the Shell/Chevron Yscloskey Plant. A memorial service was held in Waveland, MS, on December 1, 2018.

Helen Freese Riley passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, March 22, 2019 at the age of 87. Mrs. Riley was born on June 18, 1931 to the late Lloyd and Zulma G. Freese. She was the devoted wife of the late Patrick J. Riley for 43 years. Proud mother of Patrick J. Riley, Jr. (Debbie), Michael D. Riley (Melody), Dan T. Riley (Penny), Eileen M. Riley and the late Timothy S. Riley (the late Amy C. Riley). Sister of the late Edmond, Lloyd and Charles Freese. Grandmother of Glenn M. Turnage, Jr., Michelle R. Schaubhut, Amanda T. Smith, Patrick J. Riley, III, Danielle C. Riley, Gabrielle C. Riley, Lauren Spera, Evan Pelas, Marisa R. Riley, and Selena Wagner. Great grandmother of Alieha, Maddie, Riley, Emily, Jayvan, Sara, Braelynn, Abbie, Allie, Matthew, Ethan, Patrick, Sophia, Peyton, Gavin, Dylan and Jewel. Mrs. Riley was an employee of The National Finance Center (USDA) in New Orleans for over 30 years. A visitation and funeral service honoring Mrs. Helen F. Riley was held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Family Services, 4917 E. Judge Perez Drive, Violet, LA 70092 on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Interment: St. Bernard Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Helen Freese Riley. Jerry F. Calhoun
Jerry F. Calhoun, a native of Tampa, FL and a resident of Meraux, LA; passed away peacefully in the presence of his family and loved ones, on April 5, 2019, after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 75. Jerry leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley R. Calhoun. His son, Jerry J. Calhoun, his granddaughter Rhiannon Schneider, and his great-grandson, Damon Basile. Siblings: Katie Ballard, Jean Stewart, Betty Jane McGremery, Priscilla Rose, Johnny Rose, and Dianne Rose. His brothers-in-law, Ondolph (Bud) Riviere, Jr. (Ruth), Barry Riviere (Rita), Roland Riviere and a host of nephews and nieces. He was lovingly known as “Pops” by his “adopted family” Treasure Schwab, Taylor Schwab, Bailey Schwab and Landon Sandborn. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Audrey Abbey, and Daniel Calhoun, and by his brother, Donald Calhoun; his in-laws, Ondolph, Sr., and Rose Riviere, Marie R. Barnes, Doris R. Augustine, Thelma Riviere, Britton Riviere, and Linda Riviere. Jerry served in the U.S. Army from 1966 – 1968, in the Vietnam War. Jerry was a highly intelligent man, who could master any technical skill with ease. He was a humble man, who had an insatiable curiosity and was highly adaptable. He taught us, “Age is not a deterrent to learning,” as he outshined us all by his proficiency with modern technology. He was a kind man, even after life had handed him tragedies and setbacks. He defined himself based upon how he wanted to be treated by others. This quiet, gentle man is gone with a part of our hearts, but he will forever live on, as we covet the part of him that resides within us. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W.
