Betty “BB” Phillips Casbon passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the age of 80. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her life. She was the beloved wife of Alfred “Pete” Casbon. Loving mother of Penny Ann Casbon, David Bernard Casbon, Charel Re’ Casbon Bollinger (Timothy) and Tyra Michell Casbon. Daughter of the late Bernard Phillips and Lucille Bartholomew Phillips. Proud grandmother of Michaela Andreé Casbon Pierre (Vladimir), David Bernard Casbon Jr., Taylor Lucille Casbon, Payton Elizabeth Bollinger and Cameron Rose Bollinger. Sister of Alemitta Phillips, Gene Williams and the late Leonard Phillips. Aunt of Ivan Phillips, Monce Bartholomew Jr., Zachary Phillips, Cymintia Phillips Manger, Jimmy Williams, Katie Ganier Wilson and Laura Denise Williams. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and all whom she loved as her own children, cousins and best friends who helped in her care. Betty was born in Grand Bayou, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Marrero, LA. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. She will always be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to her family, her caring and loving spirit and her laughter. Her passion for dancing and listening to country music was surpassed only by her love for spoiling the grandchildren. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all. Relatives and friends attended a visitation and funeral mass in her memory held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, April 22, 2019. Ronald J. Fahrenbacher

Ronald J. Fahrenbacher passed away at the Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha on April 21, 2019 , age 77. He was born in Springfield, IL, on February 23, 1942 to parents Frank and Lois Philbrook Fahrenbacher. Ronald grew up in Louisiana and attended Chalmette High School. After graduating, he went on to Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans. Additionally, Ronald received his Doctorate Degree from DePaul University in Chicago. Ronald was very proud of his military service and served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander for 32 years, taking his family around the world with him. He worked as a JAG Officer (Attorney) while in the military, and later as the Assistant District Attorney for Kenosha County. Ronald was a brilliant musician and played both the saxophone and flute. He was self-taught and could play both by ear. Ronald loved hobby farming, gardening, and tractors and took many enjoyable trips while traveling in his RV. He loved to watch movies, especially action ones. Ronald was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Union Grove. He had a unique sense of humor, was very intelligent and an all-around good man. More than anything, he loved spending time with family and taking care of them. He will be deeply missed. Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothea; children, Heidi Fahrenbacher-deFrank, Gretchen Grencer-Liegel, and Jeffrey Fahrenbacher; grandchildren, Austin, Wyatt, Avery, Griffin, and Gabriel; brother, Richard (Linda); sister, Terry; many other family, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Suellen. Burial with full military honors will take place at the Fahrenbacher Family Farm in Springfield, IL, at a later date. Memorials to the American Lung Association in honor of Ronald are appreciated.

Gloria “Dadie” Frey Fayard entered peacefully into heaven on Monday, April 15, 2019 at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of the late Milton Joseph Fayard Sr. Loving mother of Milton Fayard Jr. (Debbie) and the late Patricia Fayard Weaver. Daughter of the late Joseph Henry Frey and Georgiana Jochim Frey. Sister of Opeo Frey (Lillian) and the late Joseph Frey, Viola Flores, Oswald Frey, Mathilda Frantz, Georgiana Lacayo, Pearl Roberts, Clarence Frey and Florence Bauer. Proud grandmother of Shannon Haun Orlando, Erica Ellis and Melissa Haun Smith (Gareth). Great grandmother of Georgiana Orlando, Damian Smith and Zoe Smith. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Gloria was born on July 4, 1925 in New Orleans, LA. She was a longtime resident of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Mandeville, LA. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed growing African Violets, creating amazing wedding cakes into works of art and teaching ceramic and porcelain doll classes. She also loved watching her New Orleans Saints and playing bingo. Her son Milton would like to thank the nurses, caregivers and staff at Heritage Manor of Mandeville and St. Catherine’s Hospice, especially Whitney Marek and Lynne Kueck for their loving support, comfort and care. Christine Perez passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the age of 54. Although she was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on October 4, 1964, she found her home in St. Bernard Parish where she lived for the last 35 plus years. Loving mother of Christi Perez, Adrian Sass, and Brandon Sass. Daughter of Judi Arellano (Ray) and Howard Gillette (Mary). Sister of Lynn Gillette. Also survived and sadly missed by her two granddaughters, a niece, and family and friends. Relatives and friends attended a Catholic ceremony was held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church located at 2320 Paris Rd, Chalmette, LA 70043 on Wednesday April 24, 2019 followed by an afternoon Mass.

Scott E. Reinecke, Sr.

Scott E. Reinecke Sr. passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the age of 70. He was born November 23, 1948 to Donald and Maxine Reinecke. Scott was a Vietnam Veteran, serving as a dog handler, radio operator, and infantryman in the United States Marine Corps 1968-1971. He served in the New Orleans Fire Department from October 1974 until June of 1990. He was well known as “Fighter Boz” among his coworkers for his “Bozo the Clown” hairstyle and boisterous character. His friends and family knew him as Scotty. An avid sportsman and longtime resident of Chalmette, Scott knew every canal and duck blind from Hopedale to Slidell. He was happiest when hunting and fishing. To know him, was to know his struggles with sobriety and the tragic consequences bestowed upon loved ones. His family asks that you honor his life by remembering the happiness he brought to the world, the selfless service he gave to his country and city, and for being the friend that would give you the shirt off of his back without asking. Fighter Boz, Scotty, Scott, Dad is at peace in Heaven. His eyes are open, his mind is clear, and he is loved both in Heaven and on Earth. Rest easy Marine... your work is done. A service will be held at a later date in the Slidell Veteran’s Cemetery.

Steven Kenneth Blanchard, Sr., of Picayune, MS, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the age of 61. A native of Chalmette, LA, he retired from Domino’s Sugar Refinery as a Packaging Technician of 26 years. Steve enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. For the last eight months, he fought a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Steve was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Black Blanchard and Elma Daigle Blanchard. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia Cantrell Blanchard; his daughter, April Lynn del Carpio; and his son, Steven Kenneth Blanchard, Jr.; three grandchildren, Triston Varnado, Bailey Wellmeier, and Ryan Wellmeier; his beloved granddog, Beaux; his sisters, Diane Cunningham and Mary Ann (Jimmy) Lewark; his brothers, Michael (Denise) Blanchard and Curtis (Jackie) Blanchard; his mother in law, Joyce Cantrell; and numerous nieces and nephews. The visitation and memorial services were held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 27074 St. Matthew Catholic Church, Perkinston, MS 39573 on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. After the services, a gathering was held in the church hall. Arrangements are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Leona A. Berndt passed away peacefully on April 23, 2019, at the age of 92. She was married to the late Walter L. Berndt, Sr., for 64 years. She is survived by her three children, Bethann Pope (Edward), Walter L. Berndt, Jr., and Frank A. Berndt (Debbie). Loving grandmother of Eric Pope (Stephanie), Jennifer Giglio (Gasper), Jeremy Berndt (Bridget), Joshua Pope (Sandy), Walter J. Berndt (Kelly), Joei Dark, Alicia Berndt, and the late Christy Berndt. Great-grandmother of Gabrielle, Blake, Kaylee, Olivia, Gavin, Jeremy (Do), Emily, Edward, Nicholas, Brennan, William, Jacob, Chloe, Caleb, Ella, and Ollie. Great-great-grandmother of Luke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Aymami, Sr. and Camille Stein Aymami, her step-mother, Gabrielle Aymami, and her siblings, Frank and Teddy Aymami. Leona will always be remembered for her passion for reading and her love of Louisiana and Civil War history. She will be missed dearly by all of her family, who will never forget the wonderful stories she told over her 92 years. Leona’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of Avanti Memory Care and Hospice, of St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Jacqueline Barcelona Calico, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2019, after a 10-year battle with Dementia and was confined to bed her last six years, at the age of 84. Jackie was truly an Angel created by GOD. Everyone called her a Sweetheart and she was worthy of that title. Her pleasant personality and attitude about people earned her love and respect. Jackie always spoke with kindness about everyone. She would see only the best in people which made her a special person. She never complained, criticized, judged or used harsh words about anyone. Jackie never had a mean bone in her body. GOD blessed Jackie with Beauty, Dignity, Grace, and Compassion. GOD made a very special person who will always be remembered and truly missed especially by me. Jackie was a loving and caring wife to her surviving spouse Carl J. “Mouse” Calico for 63 years. A devoted and wonderful mother who cared for her blind son Glenn Calico (deceased), Gregory Calico (Robin), and Davis Calico (Charlotte). Grandmother of Abigail, Benjamin, Eyan Calico and Amy, Justin (Sarah), Leland Demianenko. Preceded in death by her parents; Martin Barcelona, Sr. and Mabel Moisant Barcelona. Sister of deceased Martin Barcelona, Jr. (Nell) and aunt to their children; Guy, Tom (Barbara), Steve, Paul (Jennifer) and Rosie (Michael. Jackie was born in New Orleans and graduated from Sacred Heart High School. After marriage moved to Chalmette in Dec. 1965 until 2005 while working for D.H. Homes and Dillards Dept. Stores. She moved to Covington Oct. 2005. Jackie loved her family, but also enjoyed being with friends at parties, eating out, casinos or dancing. She liked taking cruises and traveling. She was easy to please and every thing made her happy. Ralph Jerome Legendre passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019, at the age of 97. Beloved husband of the late Tessie M. Guillot. Loving father of Philip M. Legendre (Brenda). Grandfather of Amy. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Cecile Breaux and Moise A. Legendre, and by his siblings, the late Dorothy C. Legendre, the late Dolores Legendre Meliet, and the late Robert M. Legendre. Ralph was an army veteran of WWII, and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a resident of Baton Rouge for 14 years, but resided in St. Bernard Parish for 54 years before relocating after Hurricane Katrina. Ted A. Nunez, Jr. passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 51. Son of Mary Ellen Nunez and the late Ted Anthony Nunez. He was the cherished husband of Debbie Grandich. Loving father of Zachary Nunez, Travis Nunez, Jade Hayles, and Zoe Wallace. Grandfather of Jacob and Aidin Nunez. He was the brother of Tony Nunez, Troy Nunez, Chase Nunez, Amanda Nunez and the late Jimmy “Butsie” Nunez. Ted was a native of St. Bernard Parish but made his home wherever he found himself. He was an avid traveler and took advantage of every opportunity to see new places around the country. He loved fishing, shooting skeet and playing billiards, but was never happier than when he was cooking and spending time with his family. He had a great admiration for all things nautical and took great pride in being a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Ted was much loved by his family and friends and will be forever missed by all who knew him. David Walter Rice passed away peacefully on April 24, 2019 at the age of 71. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and Veteran of the United States Army. His life continues through his family, Wife Elizabeth H. Rice, married 49 years, Daughter Rachel R Roberts, Son James D Rice, Grandchildren Brandon A Roberts, Jenna A Roberts, Emma G Rice, Leah A Roberts and Allison C Rice. Brother to John Rice, Steven Rice and Michael Rice and along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. David is predeceased by his parents Charles J Rice Jr and Marjorie K Rice and his sister Patricia Ann Rice. David was born May 20, 1947 in New Orleans (Irish Channel). He attended Chalmette High School and had two years of college through the Veterans program after returning home from serving in the United States Army. David was drafted into the military during the Vietnam War. He served in the Army from 1967 through 1970. While in the Army David was part of the First Cavalry Unit and achieved a rank of Sargent. David’s military honors include: National Defense Service Medal, Two Overseas Bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter (Rifle M-16) and Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14). David was employed by the Flowers Corporation for 26 years as a certified mechanical engineer. David is a life member of the VFW and served with his wife as a member of the St. Tammy Honor Guard and most recently he served as the Quartermaster for the VFW Distract 9 from 2017 through 2018. He and his wife also volunteered at the St. Tammy Veterans service office from 2011 through 2017. Family and friends attended the visitation and funeral service on Monday, April 29, 2019, in the Chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA 70435. John William Roach, Jr. passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2019 at the age of 87. He was married on May 17, 1958 to the love of his life, Joann Mara Roach, and was the beloved father of Maryellen Roach Leger (Kevin) and John Martin Roach (Raquel). Son of the late Nellie Hymel Roach and John William Roach Sr. Brother of Dolores Breaux, James Roach, Kathleen Legnon, Richard Roach, Robert Roach and the late Jerry Roach. Brother-in-law of Ronald and Ellen Couvillion. Proud grandfather of Kevin Leger Jr. (Katie), Kelsey Roach, Michelle Leger, Madeleine Leger, Raquel Roach and Angela Roach. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. John was born in New Orleans, LA and proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy. He was a deeply devoted Catholic as a loyal member of the St. Bellarmine Men’s Club. His involvement with the Carolyn Park Boosters and his enjoyment of his McDonald’s Coffee Group was surpassed only by the love for spoiling his grandchildren. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He was our pillar of courage and strength and a wonderful example of what it means to care for others. Gerald “Jerry” Henry Stephany passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Bonnie Veith Stephany for 28 years. Father of Frank James Stephany. Son of the late Joseph Stephany and Elvina Vonaspen Stephany. Brother of Frank M. Stephany (the late Henrietta) and the late Joseph F. Stephany (Carol). Brother-in-law of Ed Veith (Claudia) and Mike Veith (Debby). Also survived by two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces & nephews. Jerry was born on December 12, 1944 in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and especially fishing. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends and all of those whose lives he touched. Kevin Joseph Clark Jr. most beloved son, father, brother, uncle, grandson, and friend-went to eternal rest on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home in Mandeville, LA at the age of 28. Those who knew Kevin, even just a little, would tell you he wasn’t like anyone else. Kevin had a truly unique spirit and he was very easy to love. Kevin lived a life filled with accomplishments that tested his courage at every turn. Kevin was a passionate fugitive recovery agent, where he held the record for the most captures in one week. He enjoyed living life on the edge seeking thrill from activities such as military simulation weapons training, MMA wrestling and highspeed motorsports. A jokester with a creative sense of humor, Kevin’s quirkiness would have everyone at family gatherings laughing. Everyone adored his way of telling jokes and stories, which were known to be quite long, but always worth hearing him say several times “I’m almost to the good part”. Kevin was such a loving father and uncle. He would entertain all the children at family functions; carrying several children while chasing the others to make sure everyone was included in the family fun. As a young child, he loved being outdoors. Kevin was always the first one running to the family vehicle for camping trips, his parents would have to drag him away from roasting marshmallows on the fire. Kevin often went on hunting trips with his father, uncle and grandfather. A story he liked to tell on how he lost his first tooth. One hunting trip they brought Kevin home with a front tooth missing, from him shooting a deer. Kevin is survived by his daughters, Torin Clark, Desirea Williams (stepdaughter); his parents Kevin J. Clark, Sr. (Cristie Denaburg), Shawn Melerine and Lorri Bullock (Byron Bullock); his siblings Mina Janssens, Danielle Clark Fabre, Brook Clark, Paris Melerine and Britan Angelo; his grandparents Edward C. Clark, III, Jacquelyn S. Clark and Robert Huber; his aunts and uncles Troy and Laura Hiers, Edward Clark IV (deceased), Junior and Robbyn Sumner; his cousins Hailey, Jaret and Kailey Hiers, Ryan and Reed Osbourn; his nieces and nephews, Mia Morales, Bentley Watson, Jagger Clark, Zain, Lyla and Sophie Fabre. Dolores Nette Granmo passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the age of 91. She was the cherished wife who enjoyed 58 years of a wonderful life and marriage with her late husband, Trygve Granmo. Loving mother of Christine “Tina” G. Cook (Kenny), Eugene H. Granmo and the late Thomas W. Granmo. Sister of John Nette, Peggy Nette Muniz and the late Rita Nette, Lawrence Nette, Frank Nette, Bobby Nette, Rosemary Nette, Betty Nette, Gloria Carracci, Earl Nette, Charles Nette and Jimmy Nette. Proud grandmother of Patrice C. Pohlmann, Lauren Granmo, T.J. Granmo and the late Kenneth W. Cook and Kristine D. Cook. Great grandmother of Dwayne J. Cangelosi Jr., Joshua Bayham, Bailey Granmo, Kaitlyn Cook, Devin S. King and the late Justin J. Pohlmann. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and a recognized member of the Caddo Adais Indian Tribe of Louisiana. Dolores truly enjoyed life through her simple pleasures of sewing, bowling and especially spending time in her garden. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. She will always be remembered for her dedication to her family, her loving spirit, and spoiling the grandchildren. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. Calvin Francis Kissee passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2019 at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Leblanc Kissee and his children, Kathy Frught (Mike), Steve Kissee (Rhina) and Greg Kissee (Jeanette). He is also survived by his grandchildren Jessica Frught Hassel (Drew), Christopher Frught, Ryan Kissee (Abby), Erica Kissee Roberts (Chris), Jacob Kissee, Adam Kissee, Hayden Kissee, Ethan Kissee and Nicholas Kissee and three great grandchildren, Claire Hassel, Katherine Hassel and Christopher Roberts III. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny Kissee and Myrtle Kolby Kissee, brothers John and David Kissee and his sisters, Patsy Rogers and Lois Conners. He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Bernard Parish for over 45 years. At the time of his death, he was a resident of St. Tammany Parish where he relocated after Hurricane Katrina. He was employed by AT&T, Lucent and Western Electric his entire work life. Relatives and friends attended a visitation and funeral mass held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Betty Landry entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the age of 84. She is the lifelong friend of 60 years to Alice McKelvy. Daughter of the late Joseph A. Landry, Sr. and Marilouise Moore Landry. Beloved sister of Gaylynn Martin (Borge), Peggy Schober (Jeff), June Hall (Pee-Wee), Joseph “Blackie” Landry (the late Shirley), Patrick Landry (Daisy), Anthony “Tony” Landry (Donna) and the late Deborah Michel, Bobbie Terrebonne (the late Terry), Mary Jo Smith (the late Roland “Billy”), Raymond “Butsy” Landry (the late Beverly), Roy Landry, Roland Landry (the late Ann) and Billy Landry (Survived by Nancy). Godmother of Gary McKelvy, Jr., Aiden Favre, Leslie Collins Schneider and Wendy Michel. Betty is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was born in White Castle, LA and was a resident of St. Bernard for 60 years. Betty served her country while enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve for seven years. She was a former employee of Straton Baldwin and she retired from Vehicle Equipment HQ911. Brenda Ann Russell Lopez peacefully passed away April 30, 2019, at her home in Chalmette, LA at the age of 66. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her life and she has now joined our Lord in Heaven. She was born January 17, 1953 in the great city of New Orleans. Throughout her life, helping others was one of her many passions. For many years, she worked as an LPN and was devoted to every patient she crossed paths with. Brenda was the loving mother of Kelly Ann Lopez Martinez and Jacob Matthew Lopez. Dear daughter of Estelle Hahn Brodtmann. Doting grandmother of Blayze Matthew Lopez, Jose Jesus Laino Jr., and Larissa Raquel Laino. Brenda is survived and fondly remembered by her brother Robert Russell Jr. along with his children and other close family and friends. James Everett McPherson Jr. passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the age of 69. He was the beloved husband of Peggy Lauga McPherson and by previous marriage, the late Daphne Rodi McPherson. Loving father of James E. McPherson III (Angele) and William K. McPherson (Nikki). Step-father of Jamie Catalanotto (Joe). Son of the late Mildred Oubre McPherson and James E. McPherson. Proud grandfather of James IV, Ambyre (Brock), Brandon, Kirston and William Jr. (Robin) McPherson. Step-grandfather of Marissa, Alexis and Giana Catalanotto. Brother of the late Jack P. McPherson. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, along with many cousins, relatives and dear friends. James was born in New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines and was a longtime and passionate member of The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA), The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and playing pool with his league in Chalmette. He found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for his family and friends. He was well loved and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather whose passion for fast cars was surpassed only by the love for his family. Melrose Weir Deichmann Robert passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph C. Deichmann; her parents Josephine Pujo Weir and James Joseph Weir; her sisters Theresa Villarrubia and Dorothy Milligan. She is survived and fondly remembered by her children Jamie D. Hubbard (Bob) and Gaynell R. Deichmann (A.J. Seruntine III); her beloved grandchildren Sarah H. Hartford (Hunter), Joseph Hubbard (Andrea) and Robert Hubbard; her great-grandchildren Garrett and Norah Hartford; along with relatives and dear friends. Melrose was born in New Orleans, LA, lived in Arabi, LA for 52 years until Hurricane Katrina’s destruction caused her to move to Norman, OK for the past 13 years. She truly enjoyed life through her simple pleasures, especially playing Bingo and enjoying time with her family and friends. She found pleasure in the details of everyday life and caring deeply for others. She will always be remembered for her dedication to her family, loving spirit, her laughter, and spoiling the grandchildren. She was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all.
