Margot “Margie” Berz Howell passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the age of 89. She was 10 days shy of her 90th birthday. Margie was born on May 28, 1928, in Frankfurt, Germany, to the late Konrad Peter Berz and Auguste Frank Berz. She came to New Orleans in 1951 as a post war bride, was a long time resident of Chalmette, LA, and has resided in Carriere, Mississippi since 2005. Beloved wife of the late Edmond J. Howell; mother of Roland W. Howell (Kathleen); grandmother of Roland W. Howell, Jr., and Christopher J. Howell (Nicole); great grandmother of Elliana Rose Howell; sister of Lisa Hornsteiner, the late Hana Kempk, the late Konrad Berz, and the late Willibald Berz. She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank the staffs of Timeless Grace, Twelve Oaks, and Hospice Compassus for all of their loving care and kindness. Relatives and friends attended a visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, May 24, followed by a Funeral Mass in Margie’s memory.
