Claudette Casbon Fischer passed away in peace, due to a brief illness, Thursday, July 19, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones and her puppies at the age of 82. She was born in Varnado, LA, and resided in New Orleans, LA, most of her life. She was a graduate of Varnado High School (Class of 1954), where she achieved many accomplishments including Valedictorian. She belonged to many clubs, was voted homecoming queen, most popular girl, best athlete; and was a cheerleader. She received a full scholarship to LSU then later transferred to Loyola University where she majored in Chemistry and Math. She worked for many years at Domino Sugar, where she was an executive secretary, then went on to become a license contractor and formed Casbon Contracting. Her goal was to purchase property and watch the growth. She also formed C & C investments and C & P Properties which she continued to own and manage until the day she passed. She also had a passion for sports and loved watching all professional sports and even owned her own race horses, Nice Hit and First Cowboy. She enjoyed the Jolly Jacks social club, where many trips were taken and many friends were made. Claudette was the daughter of the late Travis Walker and Thelma Walker. Also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul E. Fischer, Jr. for 20 years. Formerly married to Marcus J. Casbon, Sr. for 32 years, her son Derek T. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The best way to describe her is she was full of life, the queen bee and monarch of the family, had a love for her flowers, plants, puppies, and fish. She was very ambitious and knew what she wanted in life and went for it. She will be sadly missed by all of her family, friends, and others whose lives she touched.
