Patricia Darleen Morris Canzoneri

Patricia Darleen Morris Canzoneri passed away on June 15, 2017 at Luling Living Center in Luling, Louisiana at the age of 79. She was born on December 15, 1937 in Tampa, Florida to Raymond and Hettie McLeod. Darleen grew up in Tampa, Florida. She was a resident of Arabi, Louisiana for most of her adult life. After Hurricane Katrina she moved to Natalbany, LA. Darleen was the loving wife to the late William Gerald Morris for 45 years, and to the late Anthony Canzoneri for 9 years. Darleen was a member of Arabi Baptist and Chalmette Baptist Churches for many years. She was always very active in these churches. She loved serving the Lord. A private memorial will be held with her immediate family. Darleen is survived by her four children Robyne (Michael) Peters of Luling, Louisiana; Jerry Morris (Jobeth) of Winona, Texas, Sandy (Henry) Ebel of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Heidi Morris of Westwego, Louisiana, her sister Barbara (Salvador) La Ciura of Hammond, LA, and her brother Larry McLeod of Picayune, Mississippi. She has 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and other relatives. Darleen was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Hettie McLeod, her husband William Gerald Morris, her husband Anthony Canzoneri and her sister Raynell La Ciura. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Passages Hospice and the Luling Living Center for their care and support in her final days.

Charles Ray Carroll passed into the loving arms of Jesus on March 13, 2017 at the age of 83. Charles is the son of the late Frank Earnest Carroll Sr. and Lorraine Raybaud of New Orleans, La. He is the loving husband of the late Dora Lee Jennings Carroll and Patricia Soldani Carroll. The father of Susan Ann Carroll Neff (Michael), grandfather of Michael Brandon Neff and Ashley Neff Fry (Jeremiah), great grandfather of Remi Neff-Mullan, Maleah Fry, Judah Fry and Levi Fry. Charles is also the step-father of John Soldani (Betsy) and Kelly Soldani Barber (Steve) and the step-grandfather of Brandon Barber, Sean Barber, Isabella Soldani and Sofia Soldani. Charles is also the brother of Doris Carroll Marchal (Emmett), Ann Carroll Donze (Donald), Frank E. Carroll Jr, (Aline) the late Lorraine Carroll Guelfo (Ralph). He is also survived by a host of cousins, nephews and nieces. Charles was a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Bernard and St. Tammany Parishes. He was a retired New Orleans Dock Board, Harbor Master and T. Smith & Sons, Moorsman, as well as a life spent as a Merchant Marine, Harbor Policeman and Korean War Army Veteran. He loved life and was dedicated to his faith, family, friends and occupations. He was an active member of Franco’s Athletic Club. A private memorial will be held with his immediate family.

Mary Theobold passed away at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the age of 79. Beloved wife of the late Ferdinand “Ferdie” Theobold for 61 years. Loving mother of Darlene Theobold Maiaro (Eddie) and Lisa Theobold Seube (Butch). Daughter of the late Bert Bernard Sr. and Elodie Brown Bernard. Sister of the late Bert Bernard Jr. (the late Edith), Mitchell Bernard (the late Mel), Betty Zammit (the late Pete) and Joseph Donald Bernard (Lynn). Proud grandmother of Wendell Babin Jr. (Amanda), Jill Calato (Stephen), B.J. Seube, Tyler Seube (Robyn) and Trace Seube. Great grandmother of Alissa Babin, Bryce Babin, Ian Calato, Kai Seube and Elizabeth Seube. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was born on March 9, 1938 in New Orleans, LA and was a long time resident of St. Bernard Parish. She will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Marion Rita Letellier Delaune passed away May 18, 2017 at the age of 77. She was a long time resident of Chalmette La until relocating to Covington after Hurricane Katrina in 2006. She was the wife of the late Kenneth Delaune Sr, of Chalmette. She was the daughter of the late John and Marion Letellier. Preceded in death by her brothers John, David, Walter and Henry Letellier. Survived by four children, Kenneth Jr, Rene, Faye and Brandy, multiple grand children and great grandchildren, two brothers and their wives Thomas and Christiana Letellier and Edward and Mary Letellier, an aunt Noel Singer Belew and multiple cousins, nephews and nieces. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial held in her honor on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at a family home located at 41445 Fire Tower Rd, Bedico, La.

Robert “Bob” David Ashworth was born on March 1, 1943 and passed away on June 11, 2017 at the age of 74. Beloved husband to Sandra Lagrange Ashworth of 54 years. Loving father of Robert “Robby” Ashworth Jr. and Kerri Ashworth Fernandez (Ray). Proud grandfather of Ray Fernandez Jr. (Erin), Tana-Rae Fernandez (Chris) and Andrew Ashworth. Great grandfather of Hayden and Kathryn Fernandez. Bob is also survived by his sister Lynette Bareswill (Mack). He was a loving uncle to several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Xavier L. Verdin passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the age of 82. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his life. He was the beloved brother of Ed Verdin, Emelia Cheramie, Imelda Vetra, Irvin Verdin, Leona Rhodes and the late Herbert Verdin. Son of the late Toussaint and Armantine Billiot Verdin. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Xavier was born in Terrebonne Parish and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Gretna, LA. He enjoyed working and caring for St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, along with enjoying the simple pleasures throughout his life and caring deeply for those around him. He was well loved and will be deeply missed by us all. The family of Xavier wishes to thank Bayside Healthcare for their care and compassion. Karl E. “Big Man” Schmid passed away on Wednesday, June 21 2017 at the age of 62. He leaves to cherish precious memories, his loving wife of 43 years Cathy Schmid; three beautiful daughters, Kristy Peterson (Daryl, Sr.), Kelli Dolese (Brad) and Kerrie Schmid (Jeremy) her fiancé; six beloved grandchildren, Kaylyn, Darryl, Jr., Brant and Bryson Peterson, Aubrey Toups and Tryston Leger; his two pups, Lacy May and Molly April, all of which he loved so very much. Karl had a great sense of humor. He was also a hard worker and was employed by Winn Dixie for over 20 years and Walmart for 2 years before his health began to fail. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. His memory will be cherished by his family and everyone who came to know and love him. Bertha Mae Hebert passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 21’t at the age of 93. She was the wife of the late Leo Anthony Hebert, beloved mother of Jerry Paul Hebert and Jackie Ann Juneau, mother-in-law of Carol Fontenot and Larry Juneau (dec), proud grandmother of Jody Ann Hebert, Vicki Lynn Thompson, Randy Joseph Juneau, Dawn Marie Schofield, and six great grandchildren Travis, Tabitha, Savanna, Jenna, Brenna, and Colin. Bertha was born in Lafourche Parish. She became a long time resident of St. Bernard Parish before moving to Ville Platte, La. She is fondly remembered by all family members and friends. Robert “Bobby” Sakowski was called home peacefully on June 27, 2017, on his birthday, at the age of 64. Bobby was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish and worked for the past 36 years at the VA Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. He was an avid fisherman in his earlier years, loved to cook and loved to play poker. He is proceeded in death by his mother, Jocelyn Scorsone Schultz and his father, Oliver Marion Schultz and; his sister Diane Sakowski. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Debbie Nirk Sakowski along with his son and daughter in law, Michael Anthony Sakowski and Candina Sakowski. Bobby was also like a father to Stephen Serio, who was very dear to his heart. He is also survived by his grand babies that were his whole world and known to as “Pawzie,” Mikayla and Mikenzi; his brothers Stanley Sakowski and Chip Schultz and multiple nieces and nephews. She is survived by her beloved son, Michael Mello Sr. (Tina); her cherished grandchildren, Michael Mello Jr. (Erin), Kristen Pierre (Ryan); her loving great-grandchildren, Abigail, Olivia and Hunter; her sister, Doris Kahoe; her two loving godchildren, Don Conners and Elaine Ogier; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel J. Mello; her parents, William and Agnes Conners; four brothers, Richard, Irwin, Willie and Buddy; and her sister Amelia. Elaine was a native of St. Bernard Parish, currently residing in Hammond, LA. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of everyday life and cared deeply for those around her. Audrey Mae Saigeon passed peacefully at home on July 6 2017 at the age of 67. She was the beloved wife, for 46 years, of Byron J. Saigeon, Jr., beloved mother of Scott C. Saigeon and beloved grandmother of Bronx J. Saigeon. She is survived by sisters, Jo Ann Francois and Marie M. Heck (Brian), brother William Miller (Mary) and sister-in-law Kathleen S. Solis (Roger). She was the Godmother of Jamie M. Heston. She is also survived and fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis J. Miller and Gloria D. Miller, grandparents William Detiveaux, Inez Detiveaux, William Miller and Marie Miller, in-laws Byron J. Saigeon, Sr. and Ella Mae Saigeon, and sister-in-law Barbara S. Fontaine. Audrey was a native of New Orleans, LA and was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Slidell, LA following Hurricane Katrina. Audrey retired from the State of Louisiana, Office of Health and Human Resources. Audrey was well loved, and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. She will be deeply missed by her family and numerous friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA, followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. She was laid to rest in a private ceremony.
