Nelda Mayeux Scallan passed away on June 26, 2018, at the age of 86. She was the beloved wife of the late Sheldon Paul Scallan for 68 years. Loving mother of Ted Scallan (Janice Rackliffe), Shelly Scallan Jeansonne, and Timothy Scallan (Tina Miller Scallan). Daughter of the late Valarie and Enide Mayeux. Sister of Mabel Vead and sister-in-law of Bernice Mayeux. Proud grandmother of Marshall, Nick Scallan, Lauren Scallan, Christina Scallan and the late Robert John Munoz. Great-grandmother of Kylie Munoz, Savannah Scallan and Lainey ­ Thornhill. She also leaves behind several dear nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her beloved grandpup Scooby Scallan. Nelda was born on November 6, 1931, in Hessmer, LA. She took great pride in caring for her family, and was never happier than when she was spending holidays with them or spending time with her kids, grandkids, other relatives and friends. She will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her. Dorcas Mary Sutton, of New Orleans, LA, passed on June 20, 2018 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in the presence of her loving family at the age of 73. Dorcas was born in New Orleans on September 30, 1944. Dorcas was proceeded in death by her parents Mark and Rebecca Duplantis, her daughter Paula Rhodes Sutton, and her god-child Donna Meissner. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 long years, Lee Royce Sutton. ­ They were married on February 25, 1961. Dorcas was a loving mother to Lee “Skip” Sutton Jr. (Beth), and Pamela Sutton Croucher (Scott). Proud Grandmother to Anthony Labat, Austin Croucher, and Katelyn Croucher. Caring sister to Mark Duplantis Jr. and Julie Gilbert. She was the lifelong best friend of Linda Bivalacqua and treasured cousin, aunt and friend to so many more. She attended Chalmette High School. She was a dedicated civil servant in various roles throughout her career at both NSA Algiers and NSA/JRB Belle Chasse. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends as the most thoughtful person they will ever know. She never met a stranger and would leave everyone she came in contact with a smile. When Ponee wasn’t at her monthly cousin’s luncheon cutting up you could find her with her scrapbooking friends amassing her ever growing collection of craft supplies. She would never pass up the chance to solve a mystery with her favorite fictional detective, or a scoop of Bluebell ice cream. She was loved, is missed, and will forever be cherished. James A. Zeairs Sr., or “Jimmy Z,” passed away on Wednesday evening, June 21, 2018 in his home in New Orleans, La at the age of 70. He was born in Orleans Parish and was a lifelong resident of Arabi, LA. Jimmy was a founding member of the Arabi Social Society (A.S.S. Club), loved New Orleans jazz and blues, and enjoyed stepping out on the dance floor. Devoted son of the late Paul A. Zeairs Sr. and Clare S. Zeairs. He was a loving brother to Sharon LaBauve(husband Albert), Joan Chambers, Donna Aupied, and the late Barbara Bono, Paul A. Zeairs Jr., and Adeline Breedlove. He was an exceptional father to James A Zeairs Jr., Kelley Zeairs, Tina Zeairs, and Jarmay Zeairs. He will also live on through his loving grandchildren: Jamie, Nikki, Alexis, Serenity, Brandon, Lillian, Malachi, Kaya and Nathan X.; as well as two beautiful great granddaughters, Ava and Victoria. Marie Lucille Licciardi Cangelosi passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018, in New Orleans at the age of 93. She was born September 25, 1924, in Meraux, LA, daughter of the late Dominick Licciardi and Rosalie Najolia Licciardi. Preceded in death by her sister Agatha Rose Rothstein (Leo). She is survived by her son, Donald D. Cangelosi (Ben), her nephew and godson Glen (Gail), niece Gayle (Hunter), and great niece Katherine. Special thanks to Elaine, Patti, and Alma for the care they provided over the last few years. Odile Reddick Dison entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the age of 95. She is a native of St. Bernard Parish, and the beloved wife of the late Joseph Dison. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters: Judy Mercadal (Michael), Carolyn Daggons (David), and Betty Dison. Her sons: Clement (Gail), Ernest (Gwendolyn), Harold and William Dison. Odile was preceded in death by her daughters: Emeldia “Fox” Dison-Wilson and Rosemary Dison-Thompson. The home-going celebration to commemorate her life was held at Christian Fellowship Family Worship Center, 5816 E. Judge Perez Drive, Violet, LA 70092, Saturday, July 7, 2018. Leanna was a devoted parishioner of Assumption of Our Lady Catholic Church in Braithwaithe, LA. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family. She had a big heart and was always willing to help those in need. She will be forever remembered as the life of the party and her mean gumbo. She will be deeply missed by her family and all of those whose lives she touched. Brother of Gene Paul Leger and Paul Billy Leger. Proud grandfather of Christopher James Battaglia, Madison Pearl Marie Silva, Carter Anthony Battaglia, Baylee Marie Morris, Ella Rose Battaglia, Gavin Weston Morris, Cohen Troy Battaglia, Lillian Iris Fontenette and Lucille Mae Fontenette. He enjoyed sports especially spending time on the golf course with his son. Before relocating to the north shore he coached many girls at Vista Park in Chalmette, LA. Troy was a hardworking and dedicated but sentimental man who took great pride in his work. He was an impeccable carpenter. Don was the son of Manuel P. Monies and Olivia Gonzales Monies. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Monies Addison and Marion Monies and his brother Manuel P. Monies, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Leddy Monies of Baton Rouge, his daughter and son- inlaw Leslie and Raymond Bodenheimer, Jr of Woodstock, Georgia, his son and daughter in law, Paul and Beth Monies of Covington, LA and daughter and son-in-law Jeaneen and Glenn Schmitt of Mandeville, LA, his grandchildren Rachel Vance Reid, Lindley Bodenheimer, Sasha James, Dylan Monies, Brian Schmitt, Adam Schmitt, Kyle Schmitt, and Caroline Budd, great-grandchildren Audrey Reid and Benjamin Reid, his sisters Ruby Uhle of Arabi, LA, Bessie Senac of New Orleans, LA and Jean and husband Earl Darnall of Gretna, LA, and many loving nieces and nephews. Don served his country in the U.S. Air Force; he was active in the prayer line ministry of St. George Catholic Church; he enjoyed playing golf at LSU and working with stained glass. Grateful appreciation is given to Dr. James Balart and staff member Tammy, Dr. Siva Yadlapati and staff, and to Amedisys Hospice nurse Heather McCullogh for her compassionate care. Lionel Rogers Serigne, Sr., son of the late Joseph Serigne, Sr. and Louise Morales Serigne, passed away on July 3, 2018 at the age of 81. He was the loving husband of Joan Martinez Serigne. Devoted father of John Serigne, William Serigne, and Lionel Serigne (Pamela). Grandfather of William Serigne, Jr. (Rachel), Hannah Serigne, John Hayden Serigne, Baylie Serigne and Brenna Serigne. Brother of Adam Serigne, Gloria Stephenson, Irene Melerine, Virginia Steele, O’Neil Serigne and the late Joseph Serigne, Jr. He also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends. Lionel was born on Delacroix Island, and spent his life on the water. He was the owner of Serigne’s Marina and was never happier than when catching shrimp, or playing Craps at the casino. Proud Grandfather of twelve grandchildren and the late Timmy Pritchard, Jr. Seventeen great grandchildren and two expecting in August, totaling to nineteen. Brother of Dorothy “Dottie” Caywood, the late Arthur Wiegand, the late Faye McMahon, the late Yvonne Weaver and the late Marilyn Rose. The son of the late Arthur Adolf and Gladys Amy Wiegand. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Conrad was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He was employed with American Can Co. for over 30 years. He was a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Chalmette. He was also a devout member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell, La. Joseph Paul DuRapau passed away peacefully on July 7, 2018 to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father at the age of 79. He was born on December 31, 1938 in New Orleans, LA. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Francis Gex, father Joseph DuRapau, stepfather Clayton Thomas Gex, grandparents Maude Pierce and John Francis, Mary and William A. Gex and Mattie Durapau and the love of his life for 26 years Joyce Swindle. Joseph is survived by his sister Gail Gex Freese, nephew Brian L. Freese (Michele), great niece Drew Gloria Freese, his aunt Theresa Gex and many cousins. Joe grew up in Arabi, LA and worked for the Parish of St. Bernard, Rocky & Carlo’s Restaurant and later worked for New Orleans River Boat Casino. Joe was a resident of Houston, TX, until 2017 where he worked at Toyota Center and Minute Maid Center before returning to Louisiana. Joe was very brave when faced with his cancer diagnosis. He was a kind gentle man who always enjoyed talking to and making new friends, spending many hours writing songs and poetry, putting his thoughts on paper, singing and playing his guitar. Joe was extremely proud to have been an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. A special thanks to Roberta, Maria and Melvin of Lakeside Hospice for the exceptional care, comfort and attention shown to Joe, and also to Metairie Healthcare Center for making his short time there very happy. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her very memorable life. She was the cherished wife of the late Billy Earl Kennedy. Loving mother of Bobbie Jo Wilson (Kevin), Billie P. Walsh (Alan), Billy D. Kennedy (Lori) and the late Robert E. Kennedy. Daughter of the late Robert and Lena Hamilton Wright. Sister of Ruth Maples, Opal Hanna, Orbie Wright and the late Mae Cunningham, Myrtle Decker, Hazel Colglazier, Mildred Owens, James Wright and Roy Wright. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her 8 grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. She will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who treasured her family. Betty Ruth Waffenschmidt McCloskey passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 86. Betty joins her treasured parents, Evelyn M. Waffenschmidt and Edward A. Waffenschmidt and beloved husband James J. McCloskey, Jr. who all preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Janet McNamara; her children, Maura Keaton (Jim), Mark McCloskey and Patrick McCloskey; her grandchildren, Kristen Fuhrmann (Ryan), Ryan Keaton, Mallory McCloskey, Mitch McCloskey (Rachel) and Michele McCloskey and her great grandchildren, Logan, Cason and Carlynn Fuhrmann and Hannah and Connor McCloskey. Born March 6, 1932 in New Orleans, LA, Betty graduated from Eleanor McMain High School and attended LSU where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She lived in New Orleans, Arabi, Algiers, Bogalusa, Chalmette and lastly, Harahan where she lived for 45 years. Betty was a compassionate giver of her time, herself, and her belongings. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. He was the son of the late Salvadore Marino and the late Ernestine Marino. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Joe Marino, Henry Marino, and Jake Marino. Martin was the proud grandfather of Christina D’Angelo, Lucien D’Angelo, Jennifer McCloskey (Marion), Marty Lailhengue (Christine), Brittney Guidry (Robbie), Jessica Westberry (Anthony), Irene Marino, Sofia Marino, Salvadore Marino; as well as grandfather of nine great-grandchildren Karly, Madison, Patrick, Marlei, Jeremy, Marion, Brynleigh, Jaxson, Marty, Jr., and great-grandchild-to-be Oaklei; step-grandchildren, PJ Lailhengue (Alison), Jeannedell Case, Benjamin Story (Kristen), Ashley Story, Chad Westberry (Mindi), Sarah Westberry; nine step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was an active fisherman, and loved to hunt and fish. Most of all he loved his New Orleans Saints. Martin was born in New Orleans and a lifelong resident of St. Bernard. He was a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, son, uncle and friend, and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all. Loretta Freire Molero passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Melvin “Mully” Molero for 63 years. Loving mother of Karen Molero Dragon (David), Tina Molero Tinney (Mark) and the late Clifford Raymond Molero. Daughter of the late Henry Freire and Irene Campo Freire. Sister of Irene Clark, Henrietta Montelongo and the late Sylvia White and Joycelyn Shaw. Proud grandmother of Jessica Dragon Cheramie (Jacob), Barret David Dragon, Mark Clifford Tinney and Austin Matthew Tinney. Great grandmother of Victoria Elizabeth Cheramie and the late Angel Hope Cheramie. Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Loretta was born on January 7, 1937 in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. She was strong in her faith receiving the St. Louis Medal and was a Eucharistic minister at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Loretta worked alongside her husband at their family business, Molero’s Marina. She then went on to work for the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office for many years. She will be forever remembered by her family and friends and deeply missed by all of those whose lives she touched. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Fidelis Scofield and Heart of Hospice for their care and compassion. Carol Lee Riffle Sager passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on July 12, 2018 in Chalmette, LA, after her battle with Cancer at the age of 56. Born on February 15, 1962 in New Orleans, LA, she was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, a treasured and trusting Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, and friend to so many. Carol is survived by her husband, Dean (1984); children, Joshua (Jessica), Derrick, Justin; siblings, Hope Lee Riffle Davis; Mother-in-law of Katey James Sager; MiMi of Presley & Parker Sager, Aunt Lee-Lee to Xander Davis; She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and countless friends. Her mother, Theresa Latapie Riffle DeNoux of St. Bernard Parish, her father-in-law Donald Loren Sager of Waveland, MS, and brother-in-law Douglas Lawson Sager of Wellington, FL preceded Carol in death. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, July 21 2018 at 12 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W.
