Julie Ann Yeager Tregle passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the age of 43. She was born in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Steven Charles Tregle and their children Trey Louis and Kassie Lynne Tregle. Julie is also survived by her parents Carol and Brenda Cheramie, Richard and Mamie Yeager and mother-in-law Cecile Poillon Tregle. Brandon Bruce Wild of Slidell, LA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at home while surrounded by family at the age of 42. He is the beloved son of Gary and Jean Wild; the much loved brother of Stefanie Jean Wild; uncle of Bailee, Barrett, and Remington; Godson of Dale and Linda Hoffman; nephew of Bruce Hoffman; cousin of Dustin, Christian (Katie), and Timothy Hoffman. Brandon was a 1994 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Chalmette, and a resident of Slidell since 2005. He loved Saints football, LSU, and the New Orleans Pelicans. He is very much loved and missed by his parents and sister who will keep him in their hearts forever. On July 16, 2018, Iris Wendling “Granny/Irie” Savoie, danced her way to Heaven and into the arms of the Lord at the youthful age of 82. She was the loving wife of Douglas “Paw Doug/Tubby” Doyle Savoie, and was formerly married to the late John Earl “Paw Paw” Wendling. Devoted mother of Beth Wood, Joan Trahan (Victor), Jean Peterson (Billy) and Anne Marie Nunez (Noon/Gerald). Step-mother of Wanda Munch (Keith), Toby Savoie (Dave Kalchik) and Douglas Savoie (Denise). Grandmother of Rochelle McLaughlin (Mike), Mandi Peterson, Tiffany Babin (Brady), Jess Wood, Jr. (Lacie), Tonya Barcellona (Walter, Jr.), Ricky Colletti, Jr., (Tabitha), Ricky Peterson, Jr. and Paul Hammers. Step-grandmother of Jason Munch (Jennifer). Great-grandmother of Kaylee McLaughlin, Caleb Meyers, Bradyn Peterson, Jess Wood III, Walter “Trey” Barcellona, III, Logan Barcellona, Avery Barcellona and Abel Colletti. She was preceded in death by her father, Ridley Joseph Boudreaux, Sr., and her mother Pauline Marie Barrouquere Boudreaux, as well as her mothers-in-law, Louise Wendling Gorney and Rose Marcombe Savoie. Iris also has numerous nieces, nephews and an abundance of dear friends whom will miss her tremendously. Iris graduated from T. J. Simms Elementary and from F. T. Nichols High. She was on the Reunion Committee with several friends, whom she kept in touch with over the years. She loved playing all sports, but capped a remarkable track career and was named “Best Girl Athlete” of the year, in 1950. She was also a cheerleader at F. T. Nichols High. Shortly after graduating High School, she married her first husband, John Earl Wendling. Together they have four daughters. They were in several clubs together, including the Gladiators Carnival Krewe and A Cootie Club, etc. She was a stay at home mom until her girls started school, later working at The New Orleans Parish School System as a secretary. She then joined a group of outstanding attorneys from St. Bernard as their legal secretary, and worked briefly as a secretary at the University of New Orleans. She became a social worker for the Office of Family Services, before retiring. After her first husband joined the Lord in Heaven, she spent five memorable years with her family. She began going out to dance clubs where she met her second husband, Douglas Savoie. They enjoyed dancing together, and it was a pleasure watching them glide across the dance floor. After two years of dating, they became husband and wife. One of their favorite spots to dance was “The Pope Launch,” where her friends were like family. Iris was never happier than when spending time with her family at Seafood Boils and Pot Luck Holiday get-togethers. (We will certainly miss her oyster stuffing.) She also loved reading and doing crossword puzzles. Iris was loved by anyone who was blessed enough to share in her life. She will be eternally missed by far too many people to list. Merlyn F. Sentilles, Sr. went to heaven to join the love of his life, Rosemary T. Sentilles, who preceded him in death; on Friday, July 20, 2018, at the age of 88. In his final days, he was surrounded by his family and friends that he touched in many ways throughout his life. He was the Loving father of Merlyn “Mel” F. Sentilles, Jr. (Susan), Karen Mallu (Rob), Susan Showalter (Robby), Laurie Cupstid (Steve), Angele Sentilles, Julie Doar (David) and Wendy Alphonso (Ernie). He is survived and will be fondly remembered by his 14 Grandchildren, and his 24 Great-Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his Grandson, James “Jayme” Ferret, III. Merlyn was the son of the late Louise Perret Sentilles and Edward Anthony Sentilles, Sr. Brother of Wilbur Sentilles (Jackie) and James Sentilles (JoAnn) and the late Edward Sentilles, Jr. and Clayton Sentilles. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Merlyn was a native of New Orleans, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. Merlyn was a 4th Degree Member of the Archbishop Joseph F. Rummel Knights of Columbus, Council No. 5747. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1955. His talents were endless, he loved his drafting and being a cabinetmaker in his early years, which grew into his passion for building. He was an extremely talented builder; his work can be seen in and around New Orleans. He was also a gifted artist. He will be forever loved and missed by his family. We will cherish the wonderful memories we have and laugh when we think of his jokes, riddles, songs and silliness. Elizabeth “Loretta” Landry was the best person in the world. She was born in Ville Platte, LA, to Curtis Fontenot and Marie Ortego. She is predeceased by her husband, Clark Landry. Also by her brother, Francis Fontenot and her sisters, Anne Bordeleon and Estelle Hoskinson. She is survived by her 2 sisters: Rosarina Eichler and Shirley Fontenot. She is also survived by her loving children Yvonne Landry and Michael Landry with their spouses John Lavis and Lesley Landry. She was the proud grandmother to 5 grandchildren whom she adored: Savannah Thomas, Evangeline Landry-Lavis, Charles Landry, Claiborne Landry-Lavis, and Elizabeth Landry. She was an incredible teacher who taught at many different schools including Resurrection of Our Lord in New Orleans East and Arabi Elementary and Carolyn Park in Arabi. She was the best mother and grandmother that anyone could have ever asked for. She was self-sacrificing above and beyond what could have ever been expected. She helped to raise babies, she taught grandchildren to read. She was the strongest person we’ve ever met. She was every student’s favorite teacher and every doctor’s favorite patient. She was living in Lagrange, GA, with her daughter at the time of her death, but New Orleans had her heart. She will be missed more than words can say. Wendell Jude Fourcade
Wendell Jude Fourcade, a long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish and son of the late Estelle and Wilfred Fourcade, passed away on July 16, 2018 at the age of 66. Wendell was the adoring husband of Jenny Gaspard Fourcade for 13 years, and was eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child in late August of this year. Father of Ashley Fourcade. Brother of Brenda Pierrotti (Steve), Wilfred Fourcade, Jr. (the late Carole), and the late Noel Fourcade (Annette). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Wendell was a member of Knights of Columbus Archbishop Rummel Council 5747, and served his community as a Police Officer for 26 years. Most recently, he was an Officer of the East Jefferson Levee District Police. He also served with the LSU Health & Science Campus Police, University of New Orleans Police, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, the Mississippi River Bridge Authority and the Harbor Police. Wendell lived a life dedicated to giving back to his community. He was much loved, and will be missed by all who knew him. Claudette Casbon Fischer passed away in peace, due to a brief illness, Thursday, July 19, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones and her puppies at the age of 82. She was born in Varnado, LA, and resided in New Orleans, LA, most of her life. She was a graduate of Varnado High School (Class of 1954), where she achieved many accomplishments including Valedictorian. She belonged to many clubs, was voted homecoming queen, most popular girl, best athlete; and was a cheerleader. She received a full scholarship to LSU then later transferred to Loyola University where she majored in Chemistry and Math. She worked for many years at Domino Sugar, where she was an executive secretary, then went on to become a license contractor and formed Casbon Contracting. Her goal was to purchase property and watch the growth. She also formed C & C investments and C & P Properties which she continued to own and manage until the day she passed. She also had a passion for sports and loved watching all professional sports and even owned her own race horses, Nice Hit and First Cowboy. She enjoyed the Jolly Jacks social club, where many trips were taken and many friends were made. Claudette was the daughter of the late Travis Walker and Thelma Walker. Also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul E. Fischer, Jr. for 20 years. Formerly married to Marcus J. Casbon, Sr. for 32 years, her son Derek T. Casbon, her sister Anne Williams, and her brother Fred Walker. She is survived by her son Marcus J. Casbon, Jr. (Sharon), daughters Melody Kim Arnold (Richie), Cheri A. Kathleen Fabre was called to everlasting peace and joy on May 20, 2018. She was born on August 19, 1956 and a native of Arabi, LA. She later raised her family in Slidell/Lacombe area before relocating to Perkinston, MS, after Hurricane Katrina. Kathleen is survived by her three beloved children, Courtney Held, Patrick Held (Kristy), and Kirby Held Silas (Andrew). She was adored by her grandchildren, Baylie, Macy, Aurora, Andrew, Aden and Ava Grace. Daughter of Geraldine Tucker Fabre and the late Anthony and Jack Fabre, she is also survived by her brothers, Robert, Gerald (Steve), Kevin (Yvonne) and Jack (Michelle) Fabre along with several loving nieces and nephews. Kathleen was a loving, compassionate person and deeply devoted to her family. Her children and grandchildren were the greatest joy of her life. Known for her sharp wit, she used humor to get through tough times and to bring laughter to the lives of others. Kathleen will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Jules Joseph Cousin, Sr., departed this world on July 26, 2018, at St.Tammany Parish Hospital at the age of 78. He was born on September 23, 1939. Beloved husband of 59 years of his high school sweetheart, Emma Miller Cousin. Loving father of Jules Joseph Cousin Jr. (Beverly), Jolie Cousin Everhardt, and Andree’ Agnelly (Jeff). Devoted grandfather of Drs. Joshua Cousin (Leonela), Evan Cousin, Joel Agnelly, Jacob Agnelly, JoLyn Everhardt, and Jobe Everhardt, who brought him much and joy lit up his room whenever they entered. Loving brother of Albert Joseph Cousin, and brother-inlaw of Rosalie (Wayne) Oubre and the late Charles Miller Jr. (Peggy Miller Gardner). Jules is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom he cherished. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Cousin and Lucille Cousin. Jules was raised in St. Bernard Parish and graduated from Holy Cross High School. He moved to Braithwaite after marriage where he raised many animals and enjoyed farming until the destruction of Hurricane Isaac. Following the hurricane he moved to Covington. He worked for St. Bernard Bank (Chalmette), Kaiser Aluminum for 18 and a half years (Chalmette), and retired as a Lieutenant with the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office after 28 years of service. He was also a member of the Army National Guard for 8 years. He was loved by all and loved all animals. Brenda Lee Chautin passed away suddenly at her home in Abita Springs on July 24, 2018, at the age of 60. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, Ursula and Andrew Gilchrist. Brenda is survived by her husband, the love of her life, Ray Vachon; her children, Tammy McIntyre, Brandon Rimkus, and Danielle Vachon (Glenn); her granddaughter, Faith McIntyre; her siblings, Debra Bentley, Andrew Gilchrist Jr., Kerry Gilchrist (Mina), Kevin Gilchrist (Sylinda), Cynthia Gilchrist (Terry), Donna Voros (Janos), Dewayne Gilchrist (Stephanie), and Bryan Gilchrist (Nancy). Brenda was born on September 6, 1957, in Chalmette, LA. After high school she landed a position in an oil refinery, which she turned into a career. She spent the next 25 years working as a process operator. There is no one quite like Brenda. She was a strong, independent, and intelligent woman who also had a heart of gold. She was employed with Cll Carbon in Chalmette, LA for more than 15 years before her retirement. Joyce was a member of the Maumee United Methodist Church. She was a former member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Metairie, LA where she actively served for over 30 years. She is survived by daughter Lori Brans (Tom), Houston Texas Grandchildren Tom Brans (Kayla), Carl Brans (Angela), and Rachel Shreve (Derrick) and nine great-grandchildren. Sisters Daphalene Cole, and Cheryl Kiger. Her devoted niece Donna McFellin along with other nieces and nephews who loved her very much! She was preceded in death by her sister Melva Ziemann and brother Arnold “Bud” Moore and her loving son Richard “Rick” Fenn. A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett St., Maumee, Ohio 43537. Raymond F. Balladares, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 10:22 p.m. after his long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 83. Beloved husband of the late Joan Dupaquier Balladares. He is survived by four children: Debra Gosnell, David Balladares, Dawn Bianchini and Denise Landry. The Grandfather of nine: Charlie, Chase, and Christopher Gosnell; Raymond Balladares and Megan Taylor; Josh, Katie, and Lauren Bianchini; and Jared Landry. The Great Grandfather of Kade and Kalynn Gosnell; Sophia and Dylan Balladares; Giabella Domino; and Addison and August Landry. Son of the late Salvador Balladares and Dora Bernard Balladares. He was born and raised in New Orleans; was a resident of Meraux for 35 years and Covington for the past 13 years. He was a graduate of Holy Cross School’s class of 1955. He was a retiree of Textron Marine and Land Systems. Relatives and friends of the family attended the visitation, funeral and memorial services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Betty Jane “Mawzie” Badeaux passed from this life on Thursday morning July 26, 2018, in Lacombe at the age of 82. She was born in New Orleans and lived most of her life in St. Bernard Parish, Meraux, LA. As a teacher’s aide and coach at Borgnemouth Park, she touched the lives of so many school children in St. Bernard Parish at many different schools and ball parks. She retired as a teacher’s aide in St. Bernard Parish. Devoted Mother of Darlene B. Chambers (Chris), Michael Reva, Joey Reva, Belinda Rafferty, Brenda Wright, and the late Danielle and Debbie Badeaux. Sister of Vera Blake (Bob), Emily Everett, Paul Mayeux Jr. (Judy), Harry Mayeux (Joette), Susan Audibert, and the late Charles Mayeux. Loving grandmother of Melissa (Lance), Kaila (Roche), Brooke (Nicole), Christie, Beau, Cherie, Bridget (Matt), Tabatha, Mark, Katie, Kyle, Jeremy, and April. Great grandmother of nine with two more on the way. Relatives and friends of the family attended a visitation and Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd, Slidell at 11:30 am. Russ “Rusty” M. Acosta, Sr. passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the age of 60. Loving father of Angelle Wyatt (Sean) and Russ Acosta Jr. (Michelle). Son of Barbara Lopez Acosta and the late Rodney Acosta. Brother of Susie Austin (Mark), Kelly Acosta and the late Kim Acosta. Proud grandfather of Gabrielle Acosta, Giana Acosta, Addison Wyatt, Brennen Wyatt, Giselle Acosta and Carsyn Wyatt. Also survived by his furever friend Gumbo. Rusty was born on April 28, 1958. He was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish and a current resident of Ponchatoula, LA. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all of those whose lives he touched.
