Sophamae L. Landry of New Orleans,
LA passed away peacefully from this life on August 18, 2016 at the age of 91. She was born December 29, 1924. She was the wife of the late Edward A. Landry of New Orleans, LA and mother of the late Quinn J. Dean and the late Darryl D. Dean. Sophamae retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture Finance Center in New Orleans, LA in 1987. A resident of St. Bernard Parish for many years, she was known and loved by many as “the Bird Lady”, performing at many schools and events with her beloved parrot, PANDORA, and culminating with appearances on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” and “The Late Show with David letterman” in 1991. passed away surrounded by her children on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the age of 62. Daughter of the late Nace Lamonte and Pauline Lafrance Lamonte. Sister of Josie Cooper, Octavia Dibuono, Rosemarie Labrano, Nace Lamonte, and the late Alice Smith, Diane Lamonte and Carmella Petitfils. Beloved wife of the late Alcie Hoffman, Sr. Loving mother of Theresa Hoffman (Tony), Alcie Hoffman, Jr., Kevin Hoffman (Kellie), and Penny Schallenberg (Glenn). Paul Karl Froeba of Slidell, LA, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the age of 72. Son of the late Johann Hans Froeba and Michelina Licausi Froeba. Brother of Joseph J. Froeba and the late Agnes Miecznikowski (Ray). Also survived by two nephews, Raymond Miecznikowski, Jr. and John Miecznikowski, 5 great nephews. A native of New Orleans, a former longtime resident of St. Bernard and a resident of Slidell since Hurricane Katrina. He worked for Aamco Oil Company for 32 years as a Production Operator. Daryl John D’Aquin, also known as Fidge, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on July 27, 2016 at the age of 55. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 21, 1961 to Alvin J. D’Aquin Jr. and Gayle Rodrigue D’Aquin. Daryl attended school in St. Bernard, Louisiana, and resided there until he was evacuated to Phoenix after Hurricane Katrina. He is survived by his parents Alvin D’Aquin Jr. and Gayle D’Aquin, sisters Julie Richard (Cyril), Brenda Toepfer (Gregory), Connie Marchetta (Rick), and brothers Alvin D’Aquin III (Maricel), and Clay D’Aquin (Katrina), and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. A memorial service will be held September 10, 2016 at Journey Fellowship Church, 3127 Pontchartrain Drive, Slidell, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, mass to follow at 11 a.m.

On August 29, 2016 at 7:45 a.m., the angels came down to take Alvin LaFrance “Shoepick” Cashman Jr. home at the age of 80. Mr. Cashman was born November 18, 1935 and was a lifelong resident of Chalmette, LA. Mr. Cashman is survived by his wife and best friend of 45 years, Darline Discon Cashman. Mr. Cashman has 5 children, Bridiget Cashman Mader, Gerald Cashman, Terry “T-boug” Cashman Sr, Alvin “Pick” Cashman Bergeron and Verna Cashman Alphonso; his son-in-law Robert “PeeWee” Mader and his daughter-in-law Barbara T. Cashman. He was the proud grandfather of James Hosch Sr., Feather Hosch Clesi, Cody Cashman and the late Terry “Lil Terry” Cashman Jr. He was the great-grandfather of Kaylin Hosch, Camryn Mauroner, Richard Mauroner III, Tatum Herrin, Olivia Herrin and James Hosch Jr. He was the son of the late Alvin LaFrance Cashman Sr. and Anna Mae “Sis” Gioe Cashman. Mr. Cashman was the brother of Linda Lee and the late Rosemary Daws. He was the brother-in-law of Raymond Diaz and Donald & Virginia Discon of Mississippi. John Charles Baudoin, “Big John”, of Chalmette,
LA, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the age of 82. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Myra McDonald Baudoin; Daughters, Yvette Mayeur (David), Letitia Cadwell-Wigstrom (James), and Son, Michael Baudoin (Rhonda). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tiffinie, Rachel, Joseph, David, Johnathan, Kelsi, and 4 great grandchildren. John, who was born in New Orleans, LA, served in the National Guard of Louisiana and as Army Reserve of the United States. He has lived in Chalmette, LA for the past 51 years where he served as a public official, Constable (Ward G), for 22 years. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church Mark’s Men Club and the “Old 9th Ward Gang” Club. John worked as a construction superintendent most of his life with notable achievements for Louis Armstrong Park in New Orleans, LA and the former New Orleans Arena. Fay Hellmers Wilson passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on September 1, 2016 at the age of 68. Born on November 21, 1947, she was the beloved daughter of Robert E. and Fay (Thurman) Hellmers. Fay married Warren Conrad Wilson on June 24, 1972 and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2012. Loving mother of Warren Conrad Wilson Jr. who preceded her in death on March 19, 2005. Fay was a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and was employed for over 30 years at the United States Department of Agriculture located at National Finance Center until she retired in January 2012. Fay was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She is survived and fondly remembered by her siblings, Roberta Cartaginese, Robert (Charlotte) Hellmers, Jr, and Kay (Ray) Brandhurst; grandchildren, Lauren B. Wilson and Laneigh W. Carmouche, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was well loved, a lotta fun, totally Bosch and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. On September 5, 2016 our beloved Kelly earned her wings and her place in Heaven in the arms of God. She was the adored Mom-Mom of her two beautiful children, Landon (4) and Lacie (18 months). She is survived by her loving parents, Mark and Cindy Shiffer; her brothers, Mark (Nadya) and Wesley (Denise); her Godparents who loved her as their own daughter, Leroy and Cathy Truitt; her cousins Jenna Swain (Josh) and Brian Bersuder. She is dearly remembered by her nephews, Caden, Diego, Declan and Andrei; and her nieces, Vivienne and Kira. Kelly graduated from Mississippi State University and went on to receive Masters and Juris Doctorate from Mississippi College. She was subsequently employed by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office until May 2009. “Goodbyes hurt the most when the story was not finished.” Relatives and friends attended an evening visitation held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Nella Dolci Nothaft of Desenzano, Italy, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, at the age of 84. she is preceded in death by her parents Santo and Maximilla Breciani Dolci, and her husband, Alfred R. Nothaft. She met and fell in love with her husband in Switzerland. There, they were married and immigrated to the United States and became citizens in March of 1962. She was a skilled seamstress. She and Fred are best remembered as the operators of the first Chick-Fil-A in the Plaza Shopping Mall (New Orleans East). She is survived by her three children: Silvia (Jules) Bolden, Linda (Robert) Brousse and Alfred E. (Kelly) Nothaft. She had six grandchildren: Matthew Bolden, Melissa (Jared) Morris, Brandon and Rachel Brousse, and Kaitlyn and Mason Nothaft. It was her great loss to miss meeting her two great-grandsons. The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Memory Care and Notre Dame Hospice for making her final dates filled with faith, dignity and grace. She was educated in the use of sign language and often used her skill to assist at the church, funerals and other functions. Frank J. Marchese passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Ormond Nursing and Care Center, under the compassionate care of St. Catherine’s Hospice in Destrehan, LA, at the age of 94. A dual citizen of the United States and Italy, he was born in New Orleans, LA, on October 30, 1921, and was a resident of Chalmette for 48 years. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Michele Giuseppe and Giuseppina Di Leonardo Marchese, both of Sicily, Italy, and his wife Violet Augusta Kuster Marchese. He is survived by his daughter, Frances Ann Marchese Conner (John), his grandchildren, Erin Kathleen Conner (Allen Gordon) and Sean Michael Conner (Christina), and great-grandchildren, Emily Sarah Conner and Eric Matthew Conner. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Following his term of service, Frank returned to New Orleans where he was told that his former job at Regal Brewery was not available because he had been away too long. This prompted him to fight, becoming a business agent of AFL-CIO Local 151 Brewery Workers, where he tirelessly battled for the rights of the working class. Frank was a Past Master of the Mt. Moriah - Quitman Lodge No. 59, F. & A.M.; and as a Shriner, he was aPast Captain of the Provost Guard. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Services will be private.

Roberts, Tiffany, Gino and Cody Holmes, Erica Beck, Jeanne’ Lynch, and Jolene, Jennifer, Jay, Brandi and Johnny Fradella. Great grandfather of Brendan and Riley Beck and Taylor Benson. Son of the late Vincent “Santi” Roberts and Katie Gonzales Roberts. Brother of the late Vincent, Earl, and Irvin Roberts, and Aliene R. Melerine. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Roberts was a Heliarc Welder for the Local 37. He enjoyed fishing and his family and using his hands to create wonderful memories for his family to pass on for future generations. Relatives and friends of the family attended the funeral services at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date.
