Audrey Mae Matthews Smith passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the age of 74. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Captain Robert “Bob” Smith for 53 years. Loving mother of Stacey Sistrunk (Carlton), Sheila Smith, Terri Jo Gray (Billy) and the late Cecilia Smith (the late Keith). Daughter of the late Ford and Cecilia Matthews. Sister of Lois Hueschen (the late Michael), Patsy Starnes (Eugene), Debra Johns, Gary Matthews (Trudy) and the late Robert Matthews, Ford “Junior” Matthews Jr., Charles Matthews, Raymond Matthews Sr., Louise Wintzell and Dolores “Nupie” Mackenzie. Proud grandmother 13 grandchildren, 2 late grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Audrey was born on September 12, 1944 in Avoyelles Parish and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for over 50 years. She retired from FNBC and became a dedicated homemaker. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, BayBay, G-Maw and GG. She had the ability to make everyone feel loved and accepted immediately. Giving to others is what gave her great joy. Doris Louise Born Vanderbrook passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the age of 96. Dottie was born on October 5, 1922 in New Orleans, LA. She was the only child of the late Hilda Wilhelmina Flattmann and Louis John Born. Beloved wife of the late Edward (Eddie) J. Vanderbrook, Jr. Mother of Jane V. Philibert and Edward J. (Buzzy) Vanderbrook III (Darlene Steele). Grandmother (Grammy) to: Rudolph L. (Rudy) Philibert, Jr., Edward J. (Eddie) Vanderbrook III and Angele M. Guidry. Great Grandmother to: Aidan E. Philibert, Evan B. Philibert, Marshall W. Foust, Edward J. (lil Eddie) Vanderbrook V and numerous family and friends. Dottie was a native New Orleanian living in the 9th Ward, moved to St. Bernard Parish and moved again after Katrina to Metairie. She attended B.M. Palmer & John McDonogh High School. Dottie held many offices in clubs of George Washington Elementary School, Joseph Kohn Jr. High, F.T. Nichols High School, AARP Meraux Chapter 2851, and Fort Pike Volunteer Fire Department. Dottie has been a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul, St. Cecilia, St. Marks and St. Nicholas of Myra (Lake Catherine) Catholic Church Parishes. Mark Cecil Anderson passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the age of 69. Loving father of Matthew Anderson, Daniel Anderson and Christopher Anderson. Former husband of Kathy Randazzo Anderson for 30 years. Son of the late August Roger and Patricia Dean Anderson. Brother of Eric Anderson (the late Parish). Brother-in-law of Cynthia Dotson (Herbert). Also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Mark was born on January 25, 1950 in Tallahassee, FL. He was a longtime resident of Georgia and a current resident of Slidell. LA. Mark was a United States Marine Corps Veteran and proudly served in the Vietnam War. Before being honorably discharged, he received several medals including the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ palm and frame along with many others. He would often volunteer with the VFW and participated in the annual wreath laying ceremony at Chalmette Battlefield. He attended Georgia State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Prior to establishing his own business, Stella Consulting, he was personnel manager for Siemens for many years. He enjoyed grilling, football, shooting at the gun range and especially his travels around the world. He will be forever remembered for his wit & sarcasm and deeply missed by his family, friends and all of those whose lives he touched. Kenneth “Kenny” Gerard Budd passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, February 18, 2019, in Ponchatoula, LA, at the age of 59. Kenny was born in New Orleans, LA on June 1, 1959. He was a resident of Chalmette until 2005, when Hurricane Katrina made landfall. He is the son of Edward Paul Budd and the late Elizabeth Lambert Budd. Kenny was the loving husband of Helen Hebbler Budd for 32 years. He was the loving father of Kevin Gerard Budd and Alicia Frances Hebbler, Grandfather (Papa) to Shawn Faulstich, Olivia Doty and Phillip Walker, and brother of Lisa Budd Irizarry (Amner). Devoted husband, father, son, brother, brother-inlaw and friend. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kenny retired from Lockheed Martin with over 30 years of service. He received many awards and accolades and was very proud to be a part of the Space Shuttle program. Doris “Dot” Alice Croal Williams Hunsinger passed away on Friday, February 18, 2019 at the age of 92. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Williams, Jr. from February 7, 1948 until his death on December 6, 1973 and the late Arl A. Hunsinger from February 18, 1978 until his death on October 22, 1993. A native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 64 years. Mother of Keith Williams (Carolyn) and Lynn W. Thibodeaux (Larry). Grandmother of Blair Williams (Brandon) and Joseph J. Williams, III, (Shannon), and Cher Brownfield (Scott). Great Grandmother of Lauren Brownfield and Peyton Brownfield. She is survived by her sister Elaine Croal Sena, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents John David Croal and Ola Beatrice Stouff Marchadie. “Dot” was a homemaker most of her life, but prior to that she was employed at the Jung Hotel on Canal Street and Standard Fruit Steamship Company. Starnell M. Boyington, , in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, in her home, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the age of 74. Starnell was born on July 20, 1944. Starnell loved spending time with her family, listening to music, dancing and singing. Michele “Shelly” Ann Catalanotto Garza passed away on February 13, 2019 at the age of 57. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Ollie Catalanotto. Mother to Brandy Schneider (Kevin), Michele Rando (Jason), and Vickie Garza (Jose). Michele is the beloved wife of the late Alvaro Garza, Sr., and loving daughter of Victor and Wanda Catalanotto. Sister to Natalie (Owen), Michael and Bryan (Kerry) Catalanotto. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews, including her doting nephew Shane Hingle, whom she loved dearly; and many friends. Michele was born in New Orleans, LA, and raised in St. Bernard Parish. She was a St. Bernard Parish resident for 57 years. Michele was a loving and caring person whom loved all who loved her. Michele loved to be surrounded by her friends and family. She also loved to sing karaoke as often as she could. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Joseph “Joe” Arthur Klaus passed away peacefully in River Ridge, LA, on February 26, 2019 at the age of 85. He was an employee of ILA International Longshoremen Association. He is survived by his wife, Karen “Kitty” Schiro Klaus of 27 years and her three children, Mary Gambino (David), Elena Cutrera, and Nick Cutrera (Faith); five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Nellie Klaus Stevens; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mary Whatley Klaus and Joseph August Klaus, and by his siblings, Mary Ellen Klaus Griffin, Peter Klaus, Louis Klaus, John Klaus, Alexander Klaus, Chester Klaus, William “Billy” Klaus and Patricia Klaus Taylor. Dianne Graffagnini Lohfink passed away with her family at her bedside on February 28, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. at the age of 69. Dianne lived most of her life in St. Bernard Parish. She moved to Slidell after Hurricane Katrina. Dianne was born on October 25, 1949 to the late Charles Graffagnini, Sr. and the late Dorothy Luparello Graffagnini. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Bruce Lohfink, her daughter Lisa Young (Jeff), her grandson and love of her life, Nicholas Young, Godson, Louis Fulco, siblings, Charles Graffagnini, Jr., Karen Dembrun, (Ricky), David Graffagnini and the late Richard Graffagnini, her in-laws, Glenn Lohfnk (Jodie), Darlene Dupre, Janice Lohfink, David Lohfink (Sandra) and the late Janet Schubert and Alton Dupre. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Dianne graduated from Andrew Jackson High (1967) and LSUMC (1993). She was a Registered Nurse, a devout catholic, and a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. As an RN, Dianne worked at Chalmette General, worked for several home health agencies, was the DON at a nursing home, and was owner/operator of Coral Gables, a senior day care center. Dianne will be remembered as a kind, generous, and caring lady whose favorite pastime was spending time with her grandson. Dianne was called from his earth on Nicholas and her mom’s birthday. God’s plan for Dianne was for her to be with her mom to celebrate her mom’s 98th birthday. Matilda Sanfilippo Nicolosa went to be with her Lord on February 26, 2019 at the age of 94. She was married to the late Leonce “Nat” Nicolosa. Daughter of the late Joseph Sanfilippo and Lucy Diecidue Sanfilippo. She was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Sanfilippo, and brothers Ignatus Sanfilippo, Joseph Sanfilippo and Anthony St. Philip. She is survived by her children, Constance Boteler (John), Deborah Crutti (Joseph), Leonce Nicolosa, Jr. and Martin Nicolosa (Sharon), Joseph Ward (Julia) and Vivian Nicolosa Williams. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Matilda was born in New Orleans on October 12, 1924, and resided in St. Tammany Parish for the last 13 years. She faithfully attended worship service at Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell, and her family finds great comfort and peace, knowing that she is in Heaven with her Savior, the Lord Jesus. Carol Burandt Nunez Palmer, a native of New Orleans and Chalmette, LA, passed away. She was very proud of her career as an ICU RN at Chalmette Medical Center for 30 years. She moved to Lafayette after Hurricane Katrina and held several RN positions at local hospitals and a home health agency. Carol is survived by husband Brad Palmer and son Robert Nunez. Reverend Melvin Peterson, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the age of 84. Born in Violet, LA, to the union of Rev. Matthew Peterson, Sr. and Josephine Verrett Peterson, Melvin owned Peterson’s Fencing and provided more than 50 years of service. He served on the Deacon Board and was Minister of Missionaries at Third Missionary Baptist Church. Melvin was also an honorary member of the Poor Boys Fishing, Social & Pleasure Club. On Sunday March 3, 2019, Glenna Fay Pierce Randazzo departed our world at the age of 84. Beloved wife of and survived by her husband of 65 years, Anthony “Tony” Joseph “Randy” Randazzo. Loving mother to daughters Lydia Randazzo Hecker, Susan Elizabeth Randazzo Bankston and Emily Jane Randazzo. She also leaves her dear son-in-law Johnny M. Bankston and treasured grand-daughters Sarah Elizabeth Bankston and Jeanne Marie Bankston. Mrs. Glenna Randazzo is the daughter of the late Oreice Pierce and Eva Talley Pierce of Sun, LA. She was sister to the late Janice Pierce Rivers and Oreva (Skinny) Pierce Crawford and Landis (Buck) Pierce. She is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as many cousins who have been special to her. Glenna was born June 11, 1934 and grew up in Sun, Louisiana. She attended college at Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, LA. On December 4, 1953, she married her college beau, Randy. She became a resident of Chalmette, LA for the remainder of her life. Glenna founded the Parent Teacher Club for Meraux Elementary School and brought it through into Chalmette Middle School and to Andrew Jackson High School. This organization became the Parent Teacher Association for local schools in St. Bernard Parish. Glenna was a fabulous cook and baker whose joy was caring for her family as a homemaker. She was well loved and affectionately known for her good nature and generous heart. She was a wonderful example of what it means to care for others and will be deeply missed by us all. Patricia Marion Fritsch Rossignol
Patricia Marion Fritsch Rossignol departed this earth to live eternally with our Heavenly Father on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the age of 86. She was born on March 16, 1932, the second child of the late Louis John Fritsch, Sr. and Mary Lee Landry Fritsch. Pat was preceded in death by her son, Roland Robert Rossignol, III and by her sisters, Mary Lou Fritsch Blanchard, Lois Fritsch Stogner, and by her dear brother, Louis (Buzzy) John Fritsch, Jr. Patricia was a 1950 graduate of Annunciation High School, were she was a member of many clubs and organizations. Pat was formerly employed by South Central Bell for 25 years and after retiring in 1991, went to work part time at McKenzie’s Bakery and Winn Dixie. Patricia relocated to the Covington area from St. Bernard after Katrina and was happy to be near her family again. She enjoyed many vacations to the beaches and mountains, and outings with her daughter Patty, and son, David. She most enjoyed family dinners and holiday get togethers, often telling stories of her childhood. Pat enjoyed Country and Cajun music, and dancing. She liked watching cooking shows and Lawrence Welk reruns. Pat was an excellent cook, sharing her many different soups with her sister Joan, and her nieces, Lori Englande, Kristi Illg, and Anne Chase. She knew everyone’s favorites, and would rotate them to keep the family happy. Pat is survived by her sister, Joan Fritsch Illg and brother-in-law, Jack, and by her brother, Richard Fritsch, and sister-in-law, Mary Lynne. Sassy Patricia, as she was fondly known, is also survived by her daughter; Patty Rossingol Abadie (Rey), and sons; Mikeal Rossignol and David Rossignol. MeMaw was adored by her grandchildren, Whitney Abadie Brindell (Christopher), Michael Abadie (Michelle Roberts), Lindsay Abadie Antoine (Larry), Jen Dorand (David), Vincent Rossignol (Tiffany), Gabrielle R. Forrester (Shane), Melanie R. Carter (Jeremy), Roland R. Rossignol IV, and Bradley Rossignol (Erica). MeMaw Pat was especially loved by her many great-grandchildren, Jaden, Jaxon, twins; Josephine and Jonah Brindell, Piper Abadie, Liam and Lucy Antoine, Ethan, Micah, and Isaac Rossignol, Danika, Skyler, Bailey and Sierra Carter, Shane Jr., Ainsley, and Brayven Forrester, and Maecie Rossignol. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Miss Patricia was a three year resident of Ponchartrain Health Care Center, where she made many friends while playing her daily bingo. Thanks to her nurses, aids, and staff for excellent care, as well as the staff of Harmony Hospice. There will be no services held, at this time.

Gloria Dean Bailey Smiles departed this life on Friday March 1, 2019. Daughter of the late Manuel and Eliza J. Bailey. Mother of Micheal Williams, Wanda Douglas, Herman Smiles, Joseph Smiles, Sharon Smiles Brock (Keith) and Javonda Douglas (granddaughter) and the late Terry Bailey. Sister of Doris B. Kennedy (James), Audrey B. Clements and the late Audrey B. Ceasar, Manuel L. Bailey, Joseph Bailey and Melver B. Sino Godmother of Darryl Bailey, Shelia Collins, Charlene Jones, Gary Damond and Sibyl Lee. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was the devoted friend of Joseph Lindsey and devoted cousin of Joyce B. Davis and Stanley Bailey.
